Job Description & Summary

As a Senior Manager, Compensation within the Total Rewards team, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues and shape the future of compensation at PwC Canada. Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, you'll serve as the firm's compensation subject matter expert and lead the development, implementation and evolution of compensation programs, frameworks and processes that support our people strategy and business objectives.

This role combines deep technical compensation expertise with strategic thinking, strong business acumen and stakeholder influence. You'll partner closely with Human Capital leaders, business leaders and key stakeholders to provide trusted advice, drive enterprise-wide compensation initiatives, and ensure compensation programs remain competitive, equitable, scalable and compliant in a rapidly evolving workforce and regulatory landscape.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Manager, Compensation, unlock your potential and embrace the chance to drive meaningful outcomes that'll elevate your career. Your role will include, but isn't limited to:

  • Serving as the firm's primary compensation subject matter expert, providing guidance and thought leadership on compensation strategy, program design, market competitiveness and emerging trends

  • Leading the design, governance and continuous evolution of compensation frameworks, including job architecture, job evaluation methodologies, salary structures, market positioning approaches, and compensation policies

  • Influencing compensation decisions and future program direction through market insights, compensation analytics, data-driven recommendations, and deep technical expertise

  • Leading the annual compensation cycle, including merit, bonus and compensation planning activities, in partnership with Human Capital, Finance, Payroll and business stakeholders

  • Overseeing compensation analytics, market benchmarking, compensation surveys, trend analysis and workforce modelling to support leadership decision-making and workforce planning

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to Human Capital leaders and business stakeholders on complex compensation matters, including pay decisions, organizational changes, market competitiveness and internal equity considerations

  • Leading compensation compliance activities related to pay equity, pay transparency and other applicable provincial and federal regulatory requirements

  • Monitoring legislative developments, workforce trends and market practices to identify opportunities to strengthen and modernize compensation programs and processes

  • Preparing and delivering clear, data-driven insights, recommendations and presentations for senior leadership and key stakeholders

  • Managing relationships with external compensation consultants, survey providers and technology vendors to maximize value and support strategic priorities

  • Leading, coaching and developing compensation team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement

  • Leading or supporting strategic compensation initiatives, including technology enhancements, regulatory projects, process redesign and business transformation activities

What You'll Bring

Your skills, knowledge and experiences are what set you apart. Here's what we look for:

  • Progressive experience in compensation, total rewards or human resources, with deep expertise in broad-based compensation

  • Proven experience leading compensation program design, job architecture, salary structure development, market benchmarking and annual compensation cycles

  • Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and stakeholders on compensation strategy, policy interpretation and complex compensation decisions

  • Experience designing, administering or advising on incentive compensation programs

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian compensation-related legislation and regulatory requirements, including pay equity and pay transparency

  • Advanced analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and translate findings into practical business recommendations

  • Experience working with compensation technology and HR systems, including Workday Compensation and Advanced Compensation

  • Strong communication, presentation and consulting skills, with the ability to simplify complex compensation concepts for diverse audiences

  • Proven ability to build credibility, trust and influence with senior stakeholders through expertise, insight and strong relationship management

  • Strong judgement and the ability to balance market competitiveness, internal equity, employee experience, operational considerations and compliance requirements

  • Experience leading teams, coaching professionals and delivering results through both direct leadership and influence

  • Strong project management, prioritization and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • A future-focused mindset, including an interest in workforce trends, automation, analytics and AI-enabled solutions

  • A commitment to continuous learning, innovation and finding new ways to improve programs, processes and stakeholder outcomes

  • Experience within a large, complex organization; professional services experience is considered an asset

We’re committed to providing accommodation throughout the application, interview, and employment process. If you require accommodation to be at your best, please let us know during the application process.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in recruiting is just getting started, so we know you have questions about how and why we use it. At certain points during our recruiting process, we rely on AI to improve your experience. This could be during resume review or curating personalized job recommendations, asking you clarifying questions via a chatbot or during our interview scheduling to improve your experience. Our use of AI helps ensure we combat bias by evaluating candidates equally and fairly, without seeing identity information, such as your name, or gender for example). AI also helps us better predict successful hires by reviewing all applicants for a role and the relationship between your skills, experience and likely success at PwC Canada. While AI supports parts of our recruitment process, final hiring decisions always involve human review. For more information about our use and protection of your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy (https://www.pwc.com/ca/en/privacy-policy.html).
