What we do at Weir
We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.
Make your impact
You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.
What you’ll do
• General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and oversee the monthly accounting cycle to ensure accurate financial reporting aligned with US GAAP. Daily tasks include preparing reconciliations, reviewing month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. Success means timely, accurate financial statements and smooth month-end closes.
• Freight and Duty Accounting Support: Monitor and reconcile freight, duty, and tariff expenses, matching shipping quotes and customs billings with invoices. Assist with accruals and capitalization in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and local regulations. Daily collaboration with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to resolve variances.
• Forecasting & Budgeting: Contribute to rolling forecasts for freight and duty costs, incorporating volume projections, rate changes, fuel surcharges, and currency fluctuations. Perform variance analysis and prepare reports for Supply Chain leadership.
• Process Improvement: Support automation initiatives and enhance processes for freight and duty reconciliation, integrating data from Transportation Management Systems, Global Trade Systems, and ERP. Help strengthen internal controls and documentation.
• Treasury Assistance: Assist with cash reporting, loan tracking, FX rate updates, treasury payments, banking portal maintenance, and KYC updates. Prepare bank fee analysis and cash breach reports as needed.
• Ad-Hoc Financial Analysis: Provide financial modeling, scenario analysis, and special project support to Treasury and Supply Chain leadership. Become an expert in Oracle ERP and OneStream financial reporting tools to identify and implement reporting improvements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with global accounting, finance personnel, and key stakeholders including Rio (primary partner), Treasury, and Freight teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Travel Requirements: Minimal travel expected; primarily office and remote collaboration.
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
