Responsibilities
- Support the Resident Engineer and construction project supervision team with day-to-day project administration and documentation
- Maintain project records, correspondence, reports, logs, and other construction documentation in accordance with applicable agency and contract requirements
- Assist with the review, tracking, and processing of RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and contractor documentation
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly project reports and records
- Coordinate and maintain documentation required by state and municipal transportation and infrastructure agencies
- Track project correspondence, action items, submissions, approvals, and outstanding documentation
- Support tracking of construction progress, quantities, schedules, and project milestones
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers, inspectors, contractors, consultants, client representatives, and other project stakeholders
- Assist with meeting preparation, meeting minutes, project correspondence, and follow-up items
- Support change orders, payment documentation, project closeout, and other contract administration activities
- Perform additional Office Engineer duties as needed to support the Resident Engineer and project team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Management, or a related engineering/construction discipline required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in office engineering, construction engineering, construction management, field engineering, or construction inspection
- Experience supporting projects for NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and/or NYC DDC strongly preferred
- Experience with transportation, roadway, infrastructure, or other public-sector construction projects preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience working with RFIs, submittals, project reports, correspondence, and construction records
- Familiarity with public-agency construction documentation, reporting, and contract administration requirements
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar construction management tools preferred
- Ability and willingness to work on-site at project locations throughout New York City
