About the Role
Uber Freight is seeking an Inventory Control Clerk to support inventory accuracy, system compliance, and daily transaction integrity at the Charlotte cross-dock operation. This role will ensure physical freight movement is accurately reflected in Made4Net WMS and Uber Freight TMS.
The position will own daily inventory health routines, investigate discrepancies, prevent inventory from systemically aging after it has physically shipped, and help drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and training to improve system compliance and inventory accuracy.
What the Candidate Will Do
System Transaction Ownership

- Monitor and validate daily inventory transactions in Made4Net WMS and Uber Freight TMS.
- Ensure inbound, outbound, staging, loading, shipping, and closeout transactions are completed accurately and timely.
- Identify freight that has physically shipped but remains open, unclosed, or aging in the system.
- Research and resolve system aging, inventory mismatches, missing transactions, and shipment status discrepancies.
- Partner with operations, supervisors, and transportation teams to ensure system records match physical freight movement.
Inventory Accuracy & Discrepancy Resolution

- Conduct daily inventory reviews to identify exceptions, aging freight, incomplete transactions, and potential process failures.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical inventory, WMS records, and TMS shipment status.
- Support cycle counts, location audits, dock audits, and exception inventory reviews.
- Document findings and escalate unresolved issues to site leadership.
- Maintain clear records of inventory adjustments, transaction corrections, and discrepancy resolution.
Daily Metrics & Reporting

- Own daily inventory accuracy reporting and dwell performance metrics.
- Track open inventory, aging inventory, transaction compliance, shipment closeout accuracy, and discrepancy trends.
- Provide daily updates to site leadership on inventory health, open issues, and corrective actions.
- Help build and maintain standard reporting tools for inventory visibility and system compliance.
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action

- Identify recurring process gaps causing inventory inaccuracies.
- Partner with operations leadership to complete root cause analysis on systemic issues.
- Recommend and support long-term corrective actions to improve process discipline.
- Help develop standard work, audit routines, and controls to prevent repeat issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives tied to inventory accuracy and transaction compliance.
Training & Process Compliance

- Train warehouse team members, leads, and supervisors on proper WMS and TMS transaction processes.
- Reinforce compliance with scanning, staging, loading, shipping, and closeout procedures.
- Support onboarding and refresher training related to inventory control and system usage.
- Identify user errors or training gaps and work with leadership to correct them.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience: 1–3 years in warehouse, logistics, cross-dock, or distribution environments.
- Systems: Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS, preferably Made4Net) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS, preferably Uber Freight TMS).
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar reporting tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to research data discrepancies across multiple systems.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to present findings and work cross-functionally with operations, transportation, and leadership.
- Work Environment: Comfortable in a fast-paced warehouse or cross-dock setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in inventory control, cycle counting, dock audit, shipment reconciliation, or warehouse systems support.
- Experience supporting customer-facing inventory or shipment reporting.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, or continuous improvement processes.
- Experience training warehouse associates on system compliance or standard work.
- Ability to create and maintain daily dashboards, trackers, or KPI reports.
