Job Purpose
The Assistant Vice President, Equities Settlements is responsible for the timely and accurate settlement of equity transactions across Singapore and global markets. The role ensures smooth BAU operations, effective risk and exception management, adherence to regulatory and control requirements, and supports process improvement and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end settlement of equity trades across Singapore and international markets, ensuring timely and accurate settlement.
Monitor and resolve settlement exceptions, failed trades, unmatched transactions, and reconciliation breaks within established timelines.
Liaise with brokers, custodians, counterparties, exchanges, and internal stakeholders to ensure prompt issue resolution.
Ensure daily BAU activities are completed in accordance with agreed Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and operational KPIs.
Investigate and escalate settlement risks, operational issues, and control breaches on a timely basis.
Adhere to documented SOPs, operational controls, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.
Support market claims, buy-ins, penalty management, stock transfers, and other post-trade settlement activities where applicable.
Produce accurate management information, operational metrics, and exception reporting.
Drive continuous process improvements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
Support system enhancements, user requirement documentation, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and change initiatives.
Participate in projects, regulatory initiatives, and ad-hoc assignments as directed by management.
Additional Team Lead Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the Equities Settlements team to ensure all daily deliverables are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established SLAs and market cut-off timelines.
Monitor team performance, productivity, and service quality, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Manage staff capacity, workload allocation, leave planning, and resource utilization to ensure adequate coverage across all markets.
Act as the escalation point for settlement issues, market incidents, client impacts, and operational exceptions.
Requirements
Degree in Banking, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
5 - 8 years of relevant experience in Equities Settlements, Securities Operations,
Good understanding of domestic and international settlement practices, market infrastructure, and SWIFT messaging.
Strong knowledge of settlement risk, reconciliation, exception management, and operational controls.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
