What is the Opportunity?
As the Manager, Business Reporting and Analysis, you will drive the development and reporting of complex financial planning models, forecasts, and sensitivity analyses for RBC's Canadian Life and Health insurance businesses. In this role, you'll provide comprehensive financial reporting and proactive business insights through management reports and presentations, enabling leadership to identify key performance drivers and market trends. You'll build and communicate deep knowledge of financial and actuarial data flows, reconciliation models, and current-state processes while delivering actionable financial analysis to support strategic decision-making across the Canadian Life and Health insurance product lines.
Note: This role is based at Meadowvale Business Park, Mississauga, and requires 3–4 days per week on-site attendance.
What will you do?
- Prepare monthly financial advisory and performance management packages highlighting business drivers, opportunities, and risks to business objectives.
- Apply business and application knowledge to facilitate analysis across financial reporting applications and develop creative solutions aligned with business strategies.
- Conduct deep-dive research into data flows for Canadian Life and Health insurance products; build documentation and action plans to address current-state issues.
- Fulfill senior management needs for periodic and ad-hoc reports covering actual, forecast, plan, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Canadian Insurance Finance team to streamline and improve timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting using new technology and processes.
- Design, develop, and implement complex product profitability metric reporting to track performance and provide early warnings on trends to senior management.
- Work proactively with business partners to consistently improve information needed to support management of the RBC Canadian Life and Health insurance business.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 3+ years of insurance industry experience in finance and/or accounting
- Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of insurance products
- Experience working with data to generate insights and action plans
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Ability to communicate effectively with business units and present finance data
Nice-to-have
- CPA designation (or pursuing), CFA, or MBA
- Moderate understanding of how actuarial liabilities are developed
- Strong understanding of financial reporting tools and applications (Excel VBA, EPM, TM1/Cognos, PeopleSoft, Tableau)
