Job Description:
The Raw Material Lab Technician supports site Q&FS with ensuring the quality of inbound raw materials by performing reception activities such as raw material inspection, sampling, quality control and analytical testing.
What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualification
Minimum
- High School Diploma or equivalent; science background/continuing education preferred.
- Working knowledge of food safety, prior experience in food related manufacturing or GMP environment preferred.
- Problem solving skill and systematic thinking.
- Communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and technical skills adequate as outlined above.
- Effective verbal & written communication skills.
- Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting.
- Physical requirements: Some pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) necessary.
Perferred
- University education in food science, chemistry, laboratory or demonstrate similar experience in laboratory environment is recommended.
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.
What will be your key responsibilities
- Adhere to FSSC/ISO22000, GMP/GHP, Mars Standard requirements and all related working procedures
- Abide with all Factory Safety rules
- Carry out receiving activities (accuracy of BOLs, documentation, seal checks, etc.)
- Perform sampling and analytical testing (ELISA, lateral flow, titration, etc.) of raw materials according to MGS procedures
- Perform ring tests/proficiency testing
- Carry out first level maintenance on lab equipment as needed
- Perform housekeeping checks to ensure compliance to 5S
- Support lab related / raw material investigations and root cause analysis
- Ensure compliance with PRPs in the department
- Complete all quality and food safety related training required for the role
- Ensure the accuracy of all laboratory records
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Escalate quality deviations or non-conformances to Lab Manager/Lab Coordinator/Q&FS Manager
