Position Description:

The School of Accountancy (SOA) in the College of Business at the University of Louisville

(UofL) invites applications and nominations for the Anderson Endowed Chair in Accountancy at

the rank of Professor with tenure.


The Anderson Endowed Chair will be an exceptional scholar-teacher who will contribute to the

SOA’s scholarly excellence, educational mission, and national profile. The successful candidate

will have the opportunity to help shape the School of Accountancy’s next stage of scholarly and

educational development. Working collaboratively with the School Director and faculty, the

Anderson Chair will provide intellectual leadership to strengthen the School’s research culture,

mentor and develop faculty talent, advance curricular innovation, and expand the School’s national

visibility.


Key Responsibilities

  • Scholarly Leadership: Maintain an active, high-impact research agenda with regular publication in leading accounting journals.
  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver high-quality instruction primarily through face-to-face undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in the BSBA in Accountancy and Master of Science in Accounting and Analytics (MSAA) programs. The expected teaching load is 9 credit hours per academic year.
  • Faculty Mentorship: Actively mentor junior faculty and support their development toward tenure, promotion, and sustained scholarly productivity.
  • Service: Contribute to curriculum development, assurance of learning processes, college and university committees, and broader academic and professional service.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Qualifications commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure at the time of hire.
  • A sustained and distinguished record of publication in leading accounting and business
  • academic journals.
  • Evidence of an active research agenda with the potential for continued scholarly productivity and impact.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Proven track record of mentoring junior faculty and supporting their professional development toward tenure and promotion.
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively across academic and professional communities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A research and teaching specialization in financial accounting, managerial accounting, or
  • taxation is preferred. Exceptional candidates in other accounting areas, including accounting information systems and auditing, will also be considered.
  • Active professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CMA, CFE) and substantial professional accounting experience.

Compensation

The Anderson Chair is a 10-month, full-time tenured faculty appointment. Compensation is highly

competitive and includes a base salary supplemented by a dedicated endowed-chair stipend and

research support. Salary determination considers candidate qualifications, scholarly record,

internal equity, and market standards.


About the School of Accountancy & University of Louisville

The College of Business and School of Accountancy are accredited by AACSB International. The

SOA offers a BSBA in Accountancy, a Master of Science in Accounting and Analytics (MSAA),

an Accounting Minor, and a Certificate in Accounting, enrolling approximately 400 undergraduate

majors and 30 graduate students. SOA faculty research appears in premier journals including The

Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research,

AUDITING: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Management Accounting Research, Accounting

Horizons, and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy among other leading scholarly outlets.
