Job Duties:

The Cooperative Educational Program Coordinator in the Department of Education advises and assists undergraduate elementary education students and manages and coordinates clinical experiences for undergraduate teacher licensure programs. The overall position networks and supports recruiting for and assists in the day-to-day administration of one or more academic programs that involve multiple entities to establish and grow the quality and effectiveness of the assigned academic program(s).

 

This position provides academic advising for elementary education majors, including guidance on course selection, degree paths, retention issues, graduation, and certification requirements, and assists with undergraduate recruiting and advising events.

 

This position manages clinical placements in the Department of Education’s Field Experience Office by processing student requests for placements and arranging appropriate placements with Birth-12 partners. The position maintains clinical student records as determined by the teacher education program and as required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. This position works collaboratively with the department chair, the Dean of Educator Preparation Programs, program staff, and clinical experience instructors. This position also assists with other undergraduate teacher education program responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Represents the program at internal and external events to advocate for cooperative jobs, internships, and scholarships from local and national firms and organizations
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for cooperative program planning
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains networks to assist in improvement and development of a cooperative educational program
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement

Full-time: 100%, Academic Staff, 12-month ongoing appointment, one vacancy

 

This position may offer hybrid work flexibility, with a combination of on-site and remote work based on departmental needs. To be eligible, candidates must reside in Wisconsin or Minnesota upon hire.

 

Additional duties specific to the position:

  • Provide academic advising for elementary education majors which includes guidance on course selection, degree paths, retention issues, graduation, and certification requirements.
  • Participate in undergraduate recruiting and advising events, as needed.
  • Manage and coordinate clinical experience placements for undergraduate teacher licensure programs.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and support clinical experience sites to meet the needs of licensure programs.
  • Serve as a liaison by establishing connections with area schools, and early childhood education sites and programs.
  • Communicate with school administrators and cooperating teachers regarding opportunities, placements, and expectations.
  • Initiate site supervisor payments and manage Wisconsin Internship Program finances, as appropriate.
  • Communicate responsibilities to university and cooperating site supervisors.
  • Work with the department chair and the Dean of Educator Preparation Programs to address concerns of university faculty/staff and cooperating teachers/administrators; mediate student problems; and advise teacher candidates.
  • Work in cooperation with the other Undergraduate and Graduate Program Clinical Experience Coordinator regarding school contacts and school practices.
  • Maintain clinical handbooks, forms, and records in conjunction with the department chair, the Dean of Educator Preparation Programs, and clinical instructors, as appropriate.
  • Ensure affiliation agreements are completed by cooperating schools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
  • Two years of experience in academic advising, program coordination, education, or a related field
  • Experience using technology to guide workflow

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience in educational settings, advising, and using technology applications for student data management
  • Experience teaching and/or supervising in K-12
  • Experience using PeopleSoft, Canvas, Navigate, ELC/Lumivero, Stellic

 

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this position is: $48,000 - $51,000 annually. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
