Description
On behalf of our client, Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Commercial Lawyer (FinTech & Payments).
Our client is a dynamic international organisation operating within the financial technology and digital payments sector. Due to continued growth and expansion, they are seeking a commercially focused Lawyer to join their Legal Department. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior management and business stakeholders, providing strategic legal guidance across commercial, regulatory, corporate, compliance, technology, and data protection matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of commercial, corporate, regulatory, and compliance matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of legal agreements and corporate documents.
- Advise stakeholders on commercial contracts, technology agreements, software licensing, data protection, and corporate governance matters.
- Support business growth initiatives, international expansion projects, and strategic transactions.
- Ensure that business operations remain compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and provide practical recommendations to mitigate legal and commercial risks.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors and counsel on corporate, regulatory, and dispute-related matters.
- Assist with corporate filings, governance requirements, and legal administration activities.
- Promote legal awareness and best practices throughout the organisation.
- Undertake additional legal and compliance responsibilities as required.

- Commercial agreements and business contracts

- Consultancy and contractor agreements
- Corporate governance and corporate structuring matters
- Non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements
- Software licence, maintenance, and support agreements
- Data processing and data protection agreements
- Supplier and procurement contracts
- Escrow and third-party service arrangements
- Managed services agreements
- Regulatory compliance obligations
- Mergers, acquisitions, and strategic business transactions
Requirements
- Fully qualified Lawyer with excellent academic credentials and a strong professional standing.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of post-qualification experience gained within a reputable commercial law firm or an in-house legal environment.
- Solid understanding of commercial, corporate, technology, and regulatory legal matters.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to deliver practical legal solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional European language will be considered an asset.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of taking ownership of responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the fintech, payments, financial services, technology, or software sectors will be considered an asset.
- Exposure to data protection, ESG, insurance-related matters, and international corporate structures would be advantageous.
