Join SCS Engineers as our Talent Acquisition Sector Lead for Experienced Talent (Engineers & Scientists). In this role, you'll be more than a recruiter. Reporting to the Vice President, Talent Acquisition Director, you'll partner closely with hiring managers and business leaders to attract exceptional engineering and scientific talent, build strong talent pipelines, and deliver an outstanding hiring experience. As the Talent Acquisition Sector Lead, you'll oversee full-cycle recruiting for experienced professionals while supervising Talent Acquisition team members (1-2 direct reports), leading key talent initiatives, and driving continuous improvements that help our team and business succeed. This position is based in Long Beach, California, and offers a flexible hybrid work environment with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
How you can make an impact
- Serve as the recruiting lead and subject matter expert for an assigned sector, which is experienced engineers and scientists.
- Develop and execute recruiting and sourcing strategies aligned with current and future workforce needs.
- Own and drive full lifecycle recruiting for high-priority, hard-to-fill, and/or specialized positions.
- Build and maintain pipelines of qualified candidates utilizing sourcing tools, networking, industry associations, referrals, CRM campaigns, and strategic outreach.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand business objectives, talent needs, workforce planning initiatives, and succession considerations.
- Lead sector-specific recruiting programs and initiatives that support organizational hiring goals.
- Analyze recruiting metrics, hiring trends, labor market conditions, and pipeline data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase recruiting effectiveness, candidate quality, and hiring manager satisfaction.
- Mentor and support Talent Acquisition staff through training, best-practice sharing, and coaching.
- Assist with onboarding and development of new Talent Acquisition team members.
- Lead recruiting projects, pilot programs, and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
- Conduct candidate screenings and interviews.
- Responsible for drafting clear and compelling job postings, offer letters, and negotiating salaries.
- Maintain ATS and CRM data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with Affirmative Action Plan (AAP), EEO regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Represent SCS at industry events, conferences, career fairs, professional associations, campus events, and networking functions as applicable to the assigned sector.
- Lead recruiting initiatives for experienced professionals, technical experts, project managers, and senior-level positions.
- Develop passive talent pipelines and talent community strategies.
- Serve as an advisor on recruiting market conditions and competitive talent intelligence
- Serve as an escalation point for complex recruiting challenges.
- Assist with training programs for hiring managers and interview teams.
- Participate in employer branding initiatives and recruitment marketing efforts.
- Back up the Talent Acquisition Director when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years of recruiting experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of internal recruiting experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience required.
- Must have experience recruiting for niche mid and/or senior-level roles.
- Experience recruiting mid and senior-level engineers is strongly preferred. Experience recruiting for an AEC consulting firm is a plus!
- Ability to travel up to 10% required.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
