Lead Legal Strategy Across an International Group

Our client, a diversified international organisation operating across multiple jurisdictions, is seeking a commercially minded Group Legal Counsel to become a key strategic adviser to executive leadership and governance bodies. This position offers the opportunity to influence major business decisions while taking ownership of legal risk management, corporate governance, intellectual property protection and strategic corporate initiatives across a complex international portfolio.

Working closely with senior management, you will provide practical legal guidance that supports business growth, protects commercial interests and strengthens governance standards across the group. This is a highly visible role that combines strategic input with hands-on ownership, making it ideal for an individual who enjoys operating independently and driving meaningful business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide commercially focused legal advice on corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory and governance matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Lead trademark, intellectual property and brand protection activities across international markets.
• Support Board processes, governance frameworks and subsidiary oversight.
• Manage legal risks, disputes, investigations and regulatory matters.
• Support acquisitions, restructurings, due diligence exercises and integration projects.
• Coordinate and manage external legal advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Drive improvement and standardisation across legal, governance and contract management processes.

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Lawyer or Advocate admitted in Malta or another recognised jurisdiction.
• Approximately 10-15 years' post-qualification experience within private practice, in-house legal environments or a combination of both.
• Strong commercial contracts drafting and negotiation skills.
• Experience advising senior executives, shareholders and Boards.
• Exposure to corporate governance and multi-entity operating structures.
• Experience handling international intellectual property and trademark matters.
• Knowledge of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and corporate transactions.
• Ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
