Description

Role/Team overview -

This is a senior and highly visible role within Sky Finance, responsible for leading our Portfolio Management Office and providing the PMO capability supporting some of Sky’s most significant Finance transformation activity.

Working closely with the Programme Director, Business and Technology leaders, Global Process Owners, Finance leadership and our delivery partners, you will lead the PMO capability supporting the successful mobilisation and delivery of this complex, multi-year transformation.

You will establish and maintain a strong programme control environment, ensuring plans, deliverables, risks, assumptions, issues, decisions, dependencies, resources and financial information are effectively administered and provide a clear and reliable view of programme health.

This is not simply a reporting role. You will provide independent delivery insight and constructive challenge, identify emerging risks early, drive accountability for commitments and ensure appropriate escalation and recovery actions are in place where delivery moves off plan.

Alongside S4Sky, you will continue to provide oversight of the wider Sky Finance portfolio, supporting effective prioritization, resource management and portfolio decision-making.

What you’ll do -

  • Lead the S4Sky PMO – Lead the PMO capability supporting S4Sky, working closely with the Programme Director and Business and Technology leadership to establish and embed the governance, controls, standards, tools and ways of working required to support successful programme delivery.
  • Programme Planning & Controls – Administer and maintain the integrated programme plan and programme controls, working with delivery owners to ensure plans, milestones, deliverables, actions, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, decisions and changes are accurate, current and appropriately managed.
  • Delivery Assurance & Early Warning – Provide an independent view of programme health and delivery confidence, using programme information to identify emerging risks, dependencies, critical-path impacts and potential delivery collisions early; constructively challenge owners and ensure appropriate recovery actions and escalations are in place.
  • Governance & Executive Reporting – Manage the programme governance framework and reporting cycle across Programme Leadership, SteerCo, Executive and other relevant forums, ensuring leaders receive concise, evidence-based insight, decisions and actions are captured and followed through, and governance remains focused on timely decision-making and removal of blockers.
  • PMO Leadership & Continuous Improvement – Lead, develop and coach a high-performing PMO team, setting clear standards and accountabilities while continually improving and simplifying PMO processes, tools, reporting and automation to provide an efficient and effective service to the programme.
  • Sky Finance Portfolio Management – Maintain oversight of the wider Sky Finance portfolio alongside S4Sky, providing a consolidated view of priorities, progress, resources, dependencies and delivery pressures to support effective prioritisation, capacity planning and portfolio decision-making.

What you’ll bring -

Essential Criteria

You will bring significant experience operating in a senior PMO, Programme Management Office or Portfolio Management role within a large and complex transformation environment.

  • Significant experience leading a PMO capability supporting a large-scale, complex transformation programme, ideally within ERP or enterprise technology transformation.
  • Strong experience of integrated programme planning, programme controls, governance, risk, dependency, milestone and change management.
  • Experience working across Business, Technology and major third-party delivery organisations, including System Integrators or other delivery partners.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to turn complex programme information into clear, forward-looking and decision-focused insight.
  • Confidence constructively challenging senior stakeholders, driving accountability and escalating emerging delivery concerns appropriately.
  • Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to build and develop a high-performing PMO team and operate across Agile, SAFe and traditional delivery environments.

Desirable skills and experience

  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is desirable.
  • Relevant programme, project or Agile qualifications such as MSP, PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Experience within SAP S/4HANA, Finance, Procurement or large-scale enterprise transformation would be advantageous.

What Success Looks Like -

  • A programme environment with a clear, accurate and trusted view of delivery, where risks are surfaced early, commitments are actively managed and leaders have the information needed to make timely decisions.
  • A PMO that provides genuine control, insight, challenge and enablement, helping S4Sky and the wider Sky Finance portfolio move at pace while maintaining strong governance, accountability and transparency.
