Help People Build a Successful Path Forward
Do you enjoy helping people overcome barriers, identify their goals, and build a plan for success? Are you resourceful, compassionate, and comfortable working with people during challenging transitions?
The Ada County Sheriff's Office is looking for a Community Transition Center Reentry Specialist to work with participants at the Community Transition Center (CTC). The CTC is a 108-bed facility serving individuals participating in the Community Transition and Scheduled Sentence programs—providing structured alternatives to traditional incarceration.
Alternative Sentencing programs allow individuals to serve court-ordered time while maintaining employment, accessing services, and preserving positive community connections. These programs promote accountability and successful reentry while helping reduce the use and cost of traditional incarceration.
As a CTC Reentry Specialist, you'll do much more than manage a caseload. You'll help participants prepare for successful transitions into the community by developing individualized case plans, connecting them with employment and treatment resources, addressing barriers, and helping them build skills for long-term success. You'll work alongside other Reentry Specialists, Deputies, courts, employers, treatment providers, and community partners. You'll serve as an important connection between participants, the criminal justice system, and community resources while helping individuals navigate their path toward successful reentry.
If you're looking for meaningful work where you can directly impact people's lives while supporting public safety, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do:
- Identify individuals who may be eligible for Community Transition Center programs.
- Welcome new participants and facilitate program orientations.
- Coordinate participant transitions into court-approved Alternative Sentencing programs.
- Develop individualized case and transition plans based on participant needs and barriers.
- Help participants obtain and maintain employment through job-search support and guidance.
- Connect participants with treatment, housing, employment, and other community resources.
- Build relationships with employers, courts, treatment providers, and community partners.
- Monitor participant progress, compliance, and barriers to success.
- Coach participants through challenges and help them work toward their goals.
- Prepare accurate and timely court documents, affidavits, and status updates.
- Address participant requests, concerns, grievances, and program needs.
- Facilitate educational classes, including Active Behavioral Change (ABC), Substance Abuse Program (SAP), and Workforce Readiness (WFR).
- Collaborate with the CTC team to promote accountability, successful reentry, and public safety.
Who We're Looking For:
- A team player – Collaborates with Reentry Specialists, Deputies, courts, county partners, and community providers.
- Compassionate and respectful – Works effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
- A strong communicator – Builds rapport, navigates difficult conversations, and communicates clearly with participants and partners.
- A problem solver – Identifies barriers and works with participants to find practical solutions.
- Resourceful – Finds community resources and builds connections that support participant success.
- Organized and detail-oriented – Manages a caseload, documentation, deadlines, and competing priorities.
- Motivational – Encourages participants who may be reluctant, frustrated, or uncertain about change.
- Independent – Uses good judgment, takes initiative, and makes decisions while working as part of a team.
- Adaptable – Navigates changing circumstances, multiple systems, and the unique needs of each participant.
Experience in case management, reentry, corrections, workforce development, behavioral health, or human services is helpful, but we're also interested in candidates whose skills and experiences translate to this work.
Why You'll Love Working Here:
- Make a meaningful difference in people's lives and your community.
- Help individuals prepare for successful transitions back into the community.
- Work with a collaborative team focused on accountability and participant success.
- Build relationships with community organizations, employers, treatment providers, and criminal justice partners.
- Gain experience in case management, criminal justice, workforce development, and reentry services.
- Enjoy a career where every participant, challenge, and day is different.
- Receive opportunities for training and professional development.
- Enjoy excellent Ada County benefits and opportunities for career growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with case management and developing individualized transition or case plans.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation, treatment, and community-based resources.
- Workforce development experience or certification.
- Experience with Interactive Journaling or similar evidence-based programming.
- Experience facilitating groups.
