The University of North Alabama’s Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant/associate professor level in exercise science beginning in fall 2027. This appointment is a nine-month appointment with full benefits. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.Responsibilities include teaching a 15-credit hour load per academic year, student advisement, engagement in scholarly activities and professional service, and providing service on departmental, college, and university committees. The ideal candidate will have a passion for health promotion and wellness and demonstrate flexibility in teaching both foundational and applied coursework at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The selected candidate will teach courses in the exercise science and health promotion program, which may include exercise prescription, introduction to fitness testing, exercise physiology, kinesiology, exercise leadership, among others. Additional responsibilities include maintaining office hours in accordance with university policy and performing other duties as assigned. Applicants should have a commitment to effective classroom and online teaching, student advising and mentoring, curriculum development, research/scholarship, and professional activity. Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a closely related field, required; ABD candidates will be considered provided the degree requirements have been met by the appointment date; a background in teaching at the university level (undergraduate as well as graduate) is preferred; and experience mentoring students, especially at the graduate level, is desired.Applicants must upload a cover letter and resume/CV at the time of application, as well as provide contact information (including email address) for at least three professional/academic references.
