Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Palantir Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to collaborate with bpx engineering and operational teams to develop high-quality digital solutions. This role is pivotal in creating a highly automated advanced digital enterprise across our oil and gas operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Palantir to drive business outcomes and strong foundational knowledge of data principles, connectivity with other platforms, operational workflows, application of AI, and a passion for adopting emerging technologies. A willingness to learn new tools and troubleshoot complex issues quickly is essential.
The ideal candidate will have experience delivering production grade Palantir solutions end to end and understand how data pipelines, the Ontology, applications, Actions, and integrations work together. They will have strong foundational knowledge of data principles, operational workflows, external connectivity, and AI, along with the judgment to select the right approach based on user needs, maintainability, and platform standards.
This is a hands-on role requiring proactive ownership of solutions from initial scope through rollout and support. The successful candidate will be comfortable bridging the gap between technology and end users in office and field locations. This role will also require working across functional teams and quickly learning and troubleshooting new technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of operational solutions across capital planning, development activities, production operations, maintenance, and midstream gathering
- Deploy workflow solutions tools to end users and enhance functionality to improve user adoption.
- Regularly update leadership of progress and risks as solution development progresses.
- Stay ahead of industry trends by evaluating and incorporating new tools and technologies, including AI-driven workflows to transform how work is done.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, analysts, and technology teams to translate oil and gas requirements into scalable solutions that meet data quality, security, performance, and platform standards
- Design, build, and maintain data models, pipelines, Ontology assets, applications, Actions, Functions, and integrations using capabilities such as AIP, Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, Workshop, and OSDK
- Design solutions with clear boundaries across ingestion, transformation, Ontology, application, and operational workflow layers
- Select native or custom application approaches based on user needs, functionality, maintainability, and lifecycle cost
- Apply sound engineering practices to custom development, including modular design, testing, reuse, documentation, observability, and separation of concerns
- Develop or contribute to integrations with Snowflake, AWS, SAP, and other third-party systems through APIs and supported integration patterns
- Partner with the Palantir Platform team on shared Ontology assets, permissions, custom components, integrations, reusable patterns, and platform guardrails
- Own solutions through planning, development, testing, deployment, user adoption, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Proactively identify work, dependencies, and risks and communicate progress and technical tradeoffs to stakeholders and leadership
- Evaluate emerging Palantir and AI capabilities based on business value, risk, and supportability
- Promote reuse and provide training and guidance on Palantir best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering with 2+ years focused on Palantir Foundry solution development.
- Demonstrated ownership of a production Palantir solution from requirements and architecture through deployment, support, and user adoption
- Experience designing and troubleshooting end-to-end solutions spanning source systems, data pipelines, the Ontology, applications, Actions, and writeback
- Experience building operational applications using Workshop, OSDK, React-based custom widgets, or a combination
- Ability to choose appropriately among Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, Workshop, custom development, Actions, and Functions
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using TypeScript, React, and APIs
- Understanding of maintainable application and data architecture, including testing, componentization, reuse, observability, and separation of concerns
- Ability to plan work, anticipate dependencies, and collaborate across business, data, application, platform, and integration teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced experience with Palantir capabilities such as AIP, Workshop, OSDK, Code Repositories, Pipeline Builder, Ontology Management, Data Connections, Solution Design, and Data Health
- Experience with Actions, Functions, ontology edits, writeback workflows, or custom widgets
- Experience with branching, peer review, automated testing, release management, monitoring, and production support
- Familiarity with Spark, Scala, Snowflake, AWS, SAP, or emerging AI interoperability concepts such as MCP or A2A
- Experience with Ontology design, data catalogs, master-data patterns, or reusable semantic models
- Oil and gas experience, including upstream or downstream operations, time-series data, geospatial analytics, maintenance, midstream, or energy supply chains
