Location: Leesburg, VA - Hybrid
Department: Legal & Contracts
Reports to: Government Contracts Program Manager
About the Role
Vertosoft is seeking a Government Contract Specialist (SLED), at Level II or III, to administer State, Local, and Education (SLED) contracts and cooperative purchasing agreements. This role is focused on contract lifecycle administration, documentation, compliance, and coordination with public-sector customers and internal teams.
The ideal candidate brings experience from the technology channel, such as an IT distributor, reseller, VAR, manufacturer, or similar organization. You understand how distributors, resellers, manufacturers, and customers work together across quotes, contract terms, orders, reporting, and renewals. Experience in government contracting is welcome, but Federal or SLED contracting experience is preferred rather than required.
The role owns contract lifecycle administration, contractual requirements, amendments, renewals, risk identification, official contract documentation, and formal contract communications. It partners closely with Operations, which owns pricing administration, recurring report preparation and submission, registrations, portals, transactional data, and related operational controls.
Requirements
What You'll Do
SLED Contract Administration
• Administer assigned SLED contracts, statewide and local contract vehicles, cooperative purchasing agreements, amendments, modifications, renewals, extensions, and closeouts.
• Review awards, contract terms, amendments, customer and vendor documents, and related records for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with requirements.
• Maintain complete, current, organized, and audit-ready official contract files.
• Track contractual deliverables, reporting obligations, participation requirements, administrative fees, option periods, renewal dates, and key milestones.
• Interpret routine contract and procurement requirements and provide practical guidance to Sales, Operations, Finance, and other internal partners.
• Coordinate contract implementation and transition activities following an award or contract change.
Cooperative Purchasing and Reporting
• Support administration of cooperative purchasing programs and related SLED contract requirements.
• Maintain a clear record of contract-specific reporting, utilization, participation, administrative-fee, and renewal obligations.
• Communicate reporting requirements and deadlines to Operations, which owns recurring report preparation, validation, reconciliation, and submission.
• Partner with Operations on contract-related pricing, quoting, order execution, and reporting questions; address contractual exceptions and escalate nonstandard or higher-risk issues.
Compliance and Risk Management
• Identify contractual, state procurement, cooperative, and compliance requirements applicable to assigned contracts.
• Support internal compliance reviews, external audits, and requests for contract documentation.
• Identify potential contractual or compliance concerns, recommend resolution paths, and escalate complex matters to the Government Contracts Program Manager and Legal as appropriate.
• Monitor assigned contracts for routine compliance obligations and keep supporting documentation current.
Proposal and Stakeholder Support
• Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, and other teams on public-sector proposals and opportunities by identifying contract terms, documentation needs, certifications, reporting requirements, and administrative obligations.
• Serve as a professional point of contact for routine contract administration with state and local procurement officials, educational institutions, cooperative purchasing organizations, customers, suppliers, and channel partners.
• Coordinate contract documents, amendments, renewals, and issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to improvements in contract templates, records, administration practices, and cross-functional coordination.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
How Success Is Measured
• Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready contract documentation.
• Complete assigned contract administration activities accurately and on schedule.
• Demonstrate sound understanding of technology-channel relationships and how contract terms affect quotes, orders, reporting, and renewals.
• Identify and appropriately escalate contractual, procurement, or compliance concerns.
• Build productive working relationships and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to compliant and efficient SLED contract administration.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
• 2+ years of experience in contract administration, sales operations, procurement support, pricing, quoting, or related work within an IT distributor, reseller, value-added reseller (VAR), manufacturer, or other technology-channel organization.
• Working knowledge of how distributors, resellers, manufacturers, and customers work together across quotes, contract terms, orders, reporting, and renewals.
• Experience reviewing or administering contracts, amendments, renewals, or other customer and vendor documentation.
Preferred Experience
• Experience supporting Federal or SLED contracts, GSA Schedules, or cooperative purchasing programs.
• Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, or state procurement requirements.
• Experience supporting contract reporting, compliance reviews, audits, or public-sector proposals.
• Experience with contract lifecycle management systems, state procurement portals, cooperative purchasing platforms, CRM platforms such as Salesforce, or Microsoft Excel.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Legal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to read, organize, and explain contract documentation.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
• Sound judgment, organization, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Collaborative approach and willingness to ask questions or escalate when requirements are unclear.
Compensation and Benefits
• Compensation Range (based on total On-Target Earnings (OTE)): $90,000 – $165,000.
Total on-target earnings (OTE) include base salary plus target bonus and/or commission, as applicable to the position.
