Description
Senior Solder / Electrical Assembly Technician
Location: Burbank, California
Company: WET (Design)
WET creates experiences that transform the way people encounter nature’s elements. We bring together water, light, fire, fog, ice, motion, sound, and advanced engineering to create places that move people—emotionally and physically. From the Fountains of Bellagio to the Dubai Fountain, WET has redefined what is possible when artistry, technology, and precision craftsmanship work as one. WET describes its work as “unleash[ing] the magic of the elements,” bringing together artists, physicists, architects, and choreographers to push the boundaries of the physical world.
We are looking for an experienced, detail-obsessed Senior Solder / Electrical Assembly Technician to help build the lighting systems behind extraordinary WET experiences. This is a critical, hands-on production role for someone who brings advanced soldering skill, strong electrical and mechanical instincts, exceptional workmanship, and a genuine sense of urgency.
The components you build will travel from our production floor to some of the world’s most ambitious destinations—where they become part of the light, movement, and magic that millions of people experience.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Solder / Electrical Assembly Technician, you will assemble, solder, test, inspect, and prepare LED lighting assemblies, light heads, cables, connectors, and power supplies for deployment in WET’s custom water-feature and experiential projects.
You will work with delicate, high-value components and precision tools to create reliable, production-ready assemblies that meet exacting quality, electrical, mechanical, and aesthetic standards. This is not generic bench work: every connection, solder joint, cable route, torque setting, and test result matters.
You will partner with Production Engineering and Manufacturing teams to improve processes, document best practices, solve problems quickly, and help the team meet demanding project schedules without compromising safety or craftsmanship.
What You’ll Do
Assemble, wire, solder, test, inspect, and prepare LED light heads, lighting assemblies, power supplies, cables, connectors, and related electrical hardware
Clean, prepare, tin, position, and solder components onto printed circuit boards using through-hole soldering techniques
Build and repair cable assemblies, connectors, harnesses, and associated electrical components to drawing, schematic, and work-instruction requirements
Perform cable dressing, cable routing, cable-tray work, conduit-related installation tasks, and mechanical integration of electrical assemblies as required
Stage materials, verify kit completeness, set up workstations, and prepare assemblies for efficient production execution
Use calibrated precision tools and test equipment, including torque wrenches, ohmmeters, programming equipment, and other electrical diagnostic tools
Complete electrical and functional testing; identify defects, troubleshoot failures, document results, and ensure assemblies meet acceptance criteria before release
Handle fragile, sensitive, and precision-built assemblies with care to prevent damage, contamination, electrostatic discharge, or cosmetic defects
Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, bills of materials, procedures, specifications, and test instructions
Maintain accurate build, inspection, test, rework, and traceability documentation
Work closely with Production Engineers to develop, refine, document, and improve assembly processes, tooling, test methods, and work instructions
Identify recurring defects, quality concerns, material issues, and process gaps; recommend practical solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and reliability
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and production-ready work area
Follow all WET safety, quality, ESD, workmanship, and conduct requirements
Support cross-functional production needs and perform other related duties necessary to meet project commitments
What You Bring
High school diploma or GED required
5+ years of hands-on electrical assembly experience with significant, verifiable soldering responsibility
Advanced through-hole soldering capability and a strong record of producing clean, durable, high-quality solder joints
Formal electronics training or equivalent practical experience in electrical assembly, installation, wiring, soldering, cable fabrication, connector repair, and electronic troubleshooting
Demonstrated experience cleaning, preparing, soldering, inspecting, and reworking PCB-mounted electronic components
Strong working knowledge of electrical assemblies, LED lighting systems, power supplies, cables, connectors, and related low-voltage hardware
Experience using manual, power, pneumatic, and precision hand tools safely and effectively
Ability to use torque wrenches, ohmmeters, multimeters, continuity testers, and basic programming or configuration equipment
Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow drawings, wiring diagrams, technical schematics, assembly procedures, and test instructions
Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to integrate electrical and mechanical components into a finished assembly
Excellent hand-eye coordination, fine motor control, and finger dexterity for detailed and repetitive precision work
A disciplined approach to quality, documentation, workmanship standards, and repeatable process execution
A resourceful, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to troubleshoot under schedule pressure
Strong communication skills and the ability to work productively with engineers, technicians, production leads, and cross-functional manufacturing teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced electronics, lighting, aerospace, medical-device, industrial-equipment, or precision-manufacturing environment
Formal training or certification in electronics assembly, soldering, IPC standards, or related workmanship specifications
Experience with LED lighting assemblies, waterproof or outdoor-rated electrical systems, custom cable assemblies, or field-installable electrical equipment
Experience working with engineering change orders, bills of materials, routings, production travelers, inspection records, or quality-control systems
Familiarity with electrostatic-discharge controls and ESD-safe assembly practices
Demonstrated ability to shift quickly between projects, priorities, products, and responsibilities while maintaining quality and attention to detail
Physical And Schedule Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing at least 30 pounds
Ability to perform detailed, repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements throughout the workday
Ability to work with small, fragile, and intricate electrical components while maintaining close visual focus
Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and work at a production bench or assembly station for extended periods
Willingness and availability to work overtime and weekends as required to meet critical project and delivery schedules
Why WET
At WET, precision is visible. The quality of the lighting assemblies built in our shop directly affects the reliability, beauty, and emotional impact of experiences seen around the world.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled soldering and electrical-assembly professional who takes personal pride in getting every detail right, thrives in a demanding build environment, and wants their work to become part of something far beyond an ordinary product.
