Description

Company Overview:

At Tactacam, we are a rapidly growing team of tech innovators, trail-blazers, and outdoor enthusiasts working to engineer the outdoors! We are proud to be a market-leading outdoor camera and technology company, but at our core, we are just a group of people obsessed with the great outdoors. We are far more than a technology company; we are a community that values fresh air as much as fresh ideas. As restless adventurers, we know that the best ideas rarely happen behind a desk, which is why we constantly encourage our team to get outside, use our products, and let the natural world inspire their next big breakthrough.

We also operate as tech trailblazers who are moving fast. With over 500,000+ active customers worldwide and a constantly expanding product line, we are actively pushing the boundaries of what outdoor technology can do. Because "good enough" isn't in our vocabulary, we intentionally foster an environment of ambitious dreamers where every team member is encouraged to aim higher, dream bigger, and drive innovation forward. We believe that your career should be an adventure too, and our rapid growth offers limitless possibilities for career advancement, personal development, and hands-on impact

Job Overview:

The Director, Video Production leads the development, execution, and delivery of video content across the brand portfolio. This person owns the entire production process from the first idea through final delivery and ensures the work reflects the brand, serves business goals, and reaches a consistently high creative standard. This role sits at the intersection of creative leadership and production operations. Success requires someone who can move comfortably between shaping stories, directing on set, building production systems, managing budgets, and coordinating complex schedules across teams and partners. The Director creates the environment that allows great creative work to happen repeatedly and at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative vision for video and motion content across campaigns, product launches, brand storytelling, retail content, social media, evergreen initiatives, and emerging opportunities.

  • Translate business objectives and brand strategy into visual concepts and compelling narratives that connect with audiences.

  • Direct productions during planning and execution, guiding visual style, pacing, performance, framing, and overall storytelling.

  • Establish and maintain creative standards across all video content while ensuring consistency in quality and brand expression.

  • Partner closely with Brand, Creative, Social, Community, Product Marketing, and Performance Marketing teams to shape content strategies and bring ideas to life.

  • Guide concept development, scripting, storyboarding, creative reviews, and final approvals.

  • Own production from beginning to end including planning, budgeting, scheduling, logistics, staffing, execution, editing, post production, delivery, and asset organization.

  • Develop and improve production workflows that increase output, reduce friction, and create greater consistency across projects.
  • Build production briefs, schedules, timelines, production documentation, and internal processes that support efficient execution.
  • Make decisions that balance creative ambition, production realities, timing, and budget. Create and manage a rolling twelve month production roadmap aligned with campaign calendars, product launches, seasonal priorities, and business objectives.
  • Develop annual and quarterly production schedules with clear priorities, resource allocation, and cross functional alignment.
  • Forecast production capacity and proactively identify future needs across internal teams, contractors, equipment, and external partners.
  • Coordinate production efforts across stakeholders to maximize content opportunitiesand eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Define and monitor production performance metrics including delivery timelines, budget health, asset utilization, output volume, and operational efficiency.
  • Build systems that support content reuse and scalable capture strategies to extend the value of every production.
  • Own relationships with production agencies, freelance crews, editors, photographers,
production houses, and specialty creative partners. Negotiate and manage retained services, project contracts, scopes of work, statements of work, and external agreements.
  • Evaluate partner performance and continuously improve the network of trusted production resources.
  • Oversee production budgets, estimates, invoicing, and financial planning while
  • maintaining accountability and transparency.
  • Identify opportunities to increase production efficiency without reducing creative quality.
  • Lead and develop the internal video and production team while creating clear expectations and a culture of ownership.
  • Own and manage vendor relationships, budgets, and licensing for all external audio, video, and AI platforms, ensuring optimal value and proper licensing for all project deliverables.
  • Coach team members across concepting, production, editorial, and creative execution.
  • Support hiring, contractor selection, onboarding, and team growth.
  • Create an environment where creativity, accountability, craftsmanship, and operational excellence can coexist.

Requirements:

  • Eight to twelve years of experience in video production, creative production, content production, agency environments, or internal brand teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading productions from concept through completion.
  • Strong experience managing production schedules, budgets, agencies, vendors, and external partners.
  • Deep understanding of production operations and post production workflows across multiple content formats and channels.
  • Comfort directing on set and making creative decisions in real time.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience building scalable content systems and supporting multiple priorities simultaneously.

Success in This Role

  • Video productions launch consistently and predictably.
  • Creative output strengthens the brand and raises the quality bar.
