Description
Manufacturing Engineer
Cincinnati, OH
$85,000–$115,000 annually
Build Better Processes. Solve Complex Manufacturing Challenges.
Our client is seeking a highly technical, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to develop, optimize, and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace-grade polyimide components and precision piston rings.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys owning projects from problem identification through implementation, working directly with equipment and processes, and seeing their engineering solutions make a measurable impact on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
What You'll Do
- Develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes and procedures
- Analyze production and statistical data to identify opportunities and drive process improvements
- Troubleshoot complex equipment and manufacturing issues and implement sustainable solutions
- Design and improve tooling, fixtures, machine modifications, and manufacturing processes
- Lead engineering projects from initial problem identification through implementation and launch
- Support new product introductions, machine setup, prototypes, Cpk studies, GD&T validation, and automation improvements
- Manage CAPEX projects, including identifying equipment needs, evaluating solutions, and supporting implementation
- Update bills of material, manufacturing routers, and engineering documentation
- Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban, and 5S principles to improve manufacturing performance
- Evaluate risk and make timely, practical engineering decisions
- Manage multiple projects and priorities with a high degree of independence
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in a similar engineering role, including at least 3 years in manufacturing engineering
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience developing and improving manufacturing processes using production and statistical data
- Strong GD&T, CAD, and mechanical design capabilities
- Experience designing fixtures and tooling, preferably for CNC machining applications
- CNC machining experience, including exposure to lathes, grinders, and other machine shop equipment
- Experience with CAPEX projects and equipment implementation
- Strong problem-solving and continuous-improvement skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; Minitab experience is an asset
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace manufacturing and/or AS9100 experience
- Composite materials and high-precision machining
- 3+ years of high-precision machining experience
- New Product Introduction and production launch experience
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban, and 5S
- Experience in a small to midsize manufacturing, machining, or automotive environment where the engineer had broad ownership of projects and processes
Why Join Us
- Competitive salary of $85,000-$115,000
- 401(k) with company matching
- Health, dental, and vision insurance and Health Savings Account
- Life insurance
- Paid time off and parental leave
- Employee assistance program, retirement plan, and referral program
The Ideal Candidate
You are a hands-on problem solver and builder who enjoys understanding how things work, analyzing data, designing practical solutions, and taking ownership through implementation.
If you thrive on challenging manufacturing problems and want the opportunity to make a direct impact rather than work within a narrowly defined engineering function, we would like to hear from you.
