The opportunity
NXP is seeking a senior leader to define and elevate the customer experience for automotive microprocessor platforms in a software-defined and AI-driven era. Reporting to the General Manager and serving on the senior leadership team, this Applications Engineering Manager will lead a global organization focused on helping customers evaluate, adopt, and deploy products faster and more effectively. The role combines transformational leadership with day-to-day customer responsibility, shaping how software, tools, and AI-enabled workflows define the platform experience beyond silicon while ensuring critical customer issues are handled with urgency and discipline.
Your Role
This role sets the direction for how customers experience our automotive microprocessor platforms from evaluation through deployment. You translate strategy into execution, guide the global organization’s focus and ways of working, and ensure software, tools, and AI-enabled workflows differentiate the platform beyond silicon. You stay close to customers, drive alignment across functions, and make disciplined decisions that improve customer success, scalability, and business impact.
Your responsibilities
· Set and communicate a clear strategy for the customer and developer experience.
· Own the technical customer journey from evaluation through deployment, ensuring a differentiated experience.
· Drive alignment across global engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to deliver a consistent experience worldwide.
· Turn customer insights, support trends, and integration pain points into clear engineering priorities.
· Make disciplined decisions that balance customer value, business impact, and long-term platform success.
Candidate Profile
· Proven leader of large, multi-disciplinary engineering organizations.
· Embedded systems expertise spanning hardware, software, and system architecture.
· Strong software background with modern development, integration, and debugging experience.
· Strategic thinker who converts ambiguity into clear direction and execution.
· Exceptional critical thinker with strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
· Customer-obsessed leader with experience managing complex technical engagements and escalations.
· Influential stakeholder manager able to align engineering, product, sales, and executive leadership.
· Commercially aware, balancing customer needs, technical investment, and business outcomes.
· Experience in automotive semiconductors, SDV platforms, or complex embedded compute systems.
· Track record driving transformation in developer experience, software enablement, and AI-powered engineering.
