Executive Butler Montage Big Sky
Position Summary
The Executive Butler serves as the leader and standard bearer of the Butler program at Montage Big Sky. Responsible for overseeing all Butler operations, this role ensures the consistent delivery of Forbes Five-Star service while actively mentoring, coaching, and developing a team of Butlers.
As both a leader and operational expert, the Executive Butler directly serves the resort's most distinguished guests while creating the systems, culture, and service standards that define the Butler experience. This individual is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and personalized hospitality that reflects the Montage commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, and exceptional guest experiences.

Essential Functions
Butler Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Butler team to ensure consistent delivery of Forbes Five-Star standards.
- Conduct onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Establish service expectations and ensure adherence to luxury hospitality standards.
- Create and maintain Butler standard operating procedures and service guidelines.
- Lead daily Butler briefings and VIP arrival reviews.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Guest Experience Leadership
- Serve as primary contact for ultra-high-profile guests, VIP clientele, residence owners, and special groups.
- Oversee all Butler-managed guest experiences and ensure flawless execution.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and exceed guest expectations.
- Partner with resort leadership to create personalized experiences for key guests and resort stakeholders.
- Respond to service concerns and oversee high-level service recovery efforts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned that may be outside the scope of duties, based on business needs
Operational Excellence
- Manage Butler schedules, coverage plans, and daily assignments.
- Monitor departmental productivity, staffing levels, and service standards.
- Maintain accurate guest preference databases and service records.
- Collaborate with Front Office, Concierge, Housekeeping, Residences, Culinary, Spa, and Recreation leadership.
- Participate in operational planning and strategic guest experience initiatives.
Forbes Five-Star Standards & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all Butler services meet and exceed Forbes Five-Star standards.
- Conduct regular quality audits and service observations.
- Lead role-playing, service training, and luxury hospitality development sessions.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives based on guest feedback and operational insights.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with labor management, departmental budgeting, and resource planning.
- Identify efficiencies while preserving exceptional guest service.
- Prepare operational reports and service metrics as requested.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of luxury hospitality experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in Forbes Four-Star, Forbes Five-Star, or equivalent luxury hospitality environments.
- Demonstrated success leading service-focused teams.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong conflict resolution and guest recovery abilities.
Preferred
- Previous Butler or Executive Butler experience.
- Luxury resort or private residence experience.
- Butler certification and advanced luxury service training.
- Multilingual capabilities.
