Position Summary
The Marketing and Fund Development Assistant supports the council's marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Philanthropy and collaborating with colleagues across the organization, this position assists with projects and initiatives that increase awareness, strengthen donor and community engagement, and advance the Girl Scout mission.
Marketing and Communications
- Assist with the creation, scheduling, and posting of social media content promoting council programs, events, achievements, fundraising initiatives, and partnerships.
- Capture photos and videos at events and maintain the council's digital asset library.
- Assist in preparing and proofreading email communications, website content, presentations, signage, and other marketing materials.
- Support email marketing efforts by maintaining content, mailing lists, and distribution schedules to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Collect and organize program data, photos, testimonials, and impact stories while ensuring compliance with privacy requirements.
- Provide administrative and project support for marketing campaigns, communications initiatives, and special projects.
Fund Development
- Maintain accurate donor, sponsor, prospect, alumnae, gift, and campaign records.
- Process donations and prepare receipts, acknowledgments, and donor thank-you communications.
- Track sponsorships and in-kind donations and ensure appropriate recognition and fulfillment of benefits.
- Support donor, sponsor, and alumnae cultivation and stewardship activities.
- Research prospective funding sources and compile information for grant proposals, funding requests, and reports.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for fundraising events, including the Making an Impact Breakfast, Tough Cookie 5K, and Golf Classic. Responsibilities include processing registrations, communicating with attendees, tracking sponsorships, coordinating event materials, and managing post-event follow-up.
- Assist with event planning, volunteer coordination, and on-site event support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, business, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted.
- One to three years of experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, social media, photography, donor relations, event coordination, or nonprofit work preferred.
- Strong writing, proofreading, storytelling, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, events, and content schedules independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom. Experience with social media platforms, email marketing, photography, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
- Experience with data entry, database management, reporting, mailing lists, and customer or donor relationship management systems preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Acceptance of the Girl Scout Promise and Law and a willingness to become a member of Girl Scouts of the USA.
