Description

Entry-Level Traveling Project Manager

GMEA LLC | Full-Time | Nationwide Travel Required

$65,000–$75,000 Annually | No Experience Required | Bachelor’s Degree Required | Paid Training

About the Position

Start your career helping manage large-scale construction projects across the United States — no previous experience required!

GMEA LLC is a rapidly growing nationwide commercial and industrial electrical contractor seeking motivated, organized, and ambitious college graduates to join our team as Entry-Level Traveling Project Managers.

This is an exciting opportunity to earn a competitive salary, travel throughout the country, gain hands-on experience on major construction projects, and develop valuable leadership and management skills early in your career.

No previous construction, electrical, or project management experience is required. We provide the training, mentorship, and support necessary to succeed. We’re looking for individuals who are dependable, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable taking responsibility.

Unlike traditional office positions, this role puts you directly in the field, working alongside experienced construction professionals, interacting with customers, and helping oversee projects from start to finish.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate who enjoys traveling, working with people, solving problems, and wants to build a long-term career in project management.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive starting salary of $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on qualifications, with opportunities for performance-based bonuses and salary increases as experience and responsibilities grow.

GMEA offers:

  • Company-paid business travel, including flights, accommodations, and transportation.
  • Daily meal per diem while traveling, in accordance with company policy.
  • Company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid training and mentorship from experienced construction professionals.
  • Opportunities for career advancement into senior project management and operations leadership positions.

We believe in rewarding employees who demonstrate initiative, develop their skills, and take on increasing responsibility.

Travel & Work Schedule Requirements — Please Read Carefully

Extensive nationwide travel is a mandatory requirement of this position.

  • Must be willing and able to travel frequently by air throughout the United States.
  • Project assignments may last several weeks to multiple months.
  • Must be comfortable spending extended periods away from home.
  • Must be physically present onsite each day that assigned construction activities are taking place, unless otherwise directed by management.
  • Must be comfortable working in active construction environments, including warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and other commercial and industrial settings.
  • Work schedules are determined by project needs and construction activities. Hours may exceed 40 per week and may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
  • GMEA provides company-paid travel accommodations and opportunities for trips home in accordance with company travel policies.

This is a field-based position, not a remote, hybrid, or traditional office role. Applicants must be genuinely interested in extensive travel and spending the majority of their working time at active construction sites.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

As an Entry-Level Project Manager, you’ll spend most of your day at an active construction site, helping ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to plan.

Your day might include:

  • Walking the project with field supervisors to review installation progress.
  • Taking photos and preparing daily reports for management.
  • Attending coordination meetings with customers, general contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Reviewing project schedules and identifying potential delays or concerns.
  • Checking that employees have the materials, tools, and equipment needed to complete their work.
  • Conducting routine safety walks and verifying proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are properly organized, stored, and secured.
  • Communicating project updates, questions, and concerns to company leadership.

You’ll work closely with experienced electricians, field supervisors, and project managers who will help you understand the construction process.

You will not be expected to know how to manage a construction project on your first day. We will teach you the technical aspects of the job. Your responsibility is to show up prepared, stay organized, communicate clearly, follow established procedures, and be willing to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight & Reporting

  • Monitor daily installation progress and help ensure work follows established project schedules, installation plans, and management instructions.
  • Document construction progress through photographs, daily reports, and regular project updates.
  • Identify potential delays, installation concerns, and missing materials, and communicate them promptly to management.

Customer & Team Communication

  • Attend onsite meetings with customers, general contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, field supervisors, electricians, and company leadership.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to track progress, address concerns, and support project execution.

Field Safety & Site Organization

  • Spend significant time in the field observing installations and conducting routine site walks.
  • Monitor compliance with company safety procedures, site requirements, and proper PPE usage, escalating concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Help ensure company tools, materials, and equipment are properly tracked, stored, secured, and maintained.
  • Monitor material deliveries, identify shortages, and help maintain an organized and professional jobsite.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree must be fully completed at the time of application. Current students who have not yet graduated are not eligible.
  • No previous construction, electrical, or project management experience required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively throughout the United States, including assignments lasting several weeks or months.
  • Must be available to work onsite daily during assigned construction activities, including occasional evenings and weekends as required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and basic business software.
  • Ability to follow instructions, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate issues promptly.
  • Comfortable spending significant time standing, walking, and working in active construction environments.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

Candidates with degrees in business, engineering, construction management, operations, supply chain management, or related fields are encouraged to apply. However, all bachelor’s degree majors will be considered.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re not looking for someone who already knows how to manage electrical construction projects. We’re looking for someone with the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys traveling and experiencing new places.
  • Prefers an active work environment over sitting behind a desk all day.
  • Is organized, observant, and pays attention to details.
  • Enjoys interacting with people and building professional relationships.
  • Takes initiative and follows through on responsibilities.
  • Is comfortable asking questions and learning from experienced professionals.
  • Can work independently while following established processes and instructions.
  • Wants to build a long-term career with opportunities for increased responsibility.

Training & Career Growth

At GMEA, we believe in developing talented individuals from the ground up.

New Project Managers receive hands-on training, guidance, and mentorship from experienced construction professionals while gradually taking on additional responsibilities.

As you develop your skills, you’ll have opportunities to manage larger projects, lead teams, build customer relationships, and advance into senior project management or operations leadership positions.

We’re looking for individuals who want to grow alongside our company and become valuable members of our long-term leadership team.

If you’ve completed your bachelor’s degree, are excited about extensive nationwide travel, and want to build a rewarding career in project management, we encourage you to apply!
