Description

To ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of daily hydrocarbon production, cylinder filling, and testing operations at the Aalter site, while actively promoting safety objectives as the top priority.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

AIR LIQUIDE AALTER

Air Liquide Aalter is a specialized production facility producing high-purity hydrocarbons for the Air Liquide Group. Key production processes utilize distillation columns and a reactor. Our on-site laboratory handles quality control for raw materials and final products. To maintain operational excellence, our production plant is currently undergoing an upgrade and automation transformation to become a state-of-the-art, highly efficient, and reliable facility. With new distillation units under construction, joining during this commissioning phase offers an exceptional, hands-on learning environment.

MAIN ACTIONS, TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Production Management & Field Operations:

  • Start hands-on in the field within a 2-person shift team (one in the field, one in the control room), following a step-by-step training trajectory to progressively learn all operations, with future potential to operate the control room.
  • Safely sort, pick, label, and fill gas cylinders in strict accordance with specific filling procedures and weight targets.
  • Operate and monitor distillation columns and reactors for hydrocarbon production.
  • Perform field tasks including cylinder flushing, loading and unloading trucks using a forklift, and carrying out first-line maintenance on valves, fittings, and calibrations.

2. Stock & Transport Coordination:

  • Inspect and oversee incoming and outgoing gas cylinder deliveries.
  • Prepare essential documentation: delivery notes, ADR/IMDG transport documents, SAP production orders, and certificates of conformity and analysis.
  • Report delivery details and cylinder rental status to invoicing teams.
  • Conduct monthly and annual inventory checks.

3. Laboratory Management & Quality Control:

  • Perform routine laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process products from distillation units, and filled cylinder end products.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and quality assurance reporting.

4. Safety & Site Support (IMS):

  • Promote safety objectives as the absolute top priority at all times.
  • Support project execution and safety protocols: manage work permits, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and task risk analyses.
  • Supervise contractor activities on site.
  • Actively identify anomalies, participate in IMS work, and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency plans.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Education: Minimum a completed technical secondary diploma (TSO/BSO) in electromechanics, electronics, or chemistry. Candidates must be eager to commit long-term and complete a step-by-step hands-on training trajectory.
  • Experience: Proven experience in an industrial production or process environment (chemical or food industry experience is an asset) with a versatile skill set.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in Dutch with a good working knowledge of English.
  • Technical & Practical Skills: Comfortable handling administrative tasks and computer applications. A forklift certificate is an asset (or willingness to obtain one via the site). Knowledge of process automation or gas chromatography is a plus.
  • Mobility & Proximity: Living within a maximum 1-hour drive from the Aalter site (strict requirement for on-call duty).
  • Safety First: Unwavering commitment to safety rules, procedures, and personal leadership.
  • Flexibility & Team Spirit: Highly collaborative team player with a flexible mindset.
  • Operational Focus: Practical, hands-on mindset with an eager-to-learn attitude.
  • Stress Resilience & Problem Solving: Calm and effective under pressure when solving operational challenges.
