Colorado Springs, CO | Full-Time | In-Office
35 Years | Construction, Employment & Commercial Litigation | Room to Grow
For over 35 years, Mulliken Weiner Berg & Jolivet P.C. has proudly served the Colorado business community. The firm assists clients across a diverse range of practice areas, including commercial transactions, commercial and residential real estate, employment law, estate planning and probate, construction law, and complex commercial and real estate litigation. The firm has consistently been selected as a Best Workplace and is located in downtown Colorado Springs with a view of Pikes Peak.
The firm is looking for an attorney with a few years of litigation experience that is hungry to learn, develop, and handle a case load. In return, MWBJ offers direct partner mentorship, real case responsibility, and the stability of a firm with a long-standing reputation in Southern Colorado.
About the Role
You will handle a litigation caseload across construction, employment, real estate, and commercial litigation matters, working closely with the partners from intake through resolution. From day one you are expected to draft pleadings and motions, run discovery, take and defend depositions, and appear in court for hearings and trials. Clients will know you by name, and the partners will lean on your judgment.
A book of business is not required. As you grow, you will be encouraged to build client relationships and your presence in the Colorado Springs business and legal community.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of construction, employment, real estate, and commercial litigation matters from intake through settlement, trial, and/or appeal.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and written discovery requests and responses.
- Conduct legal research and give partners clear, practical analysis on case strategy.
- Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and work with experts.
- Appear in state and federal court for hearings, conferences, arbitration and trial, first-chairing more matters as you gain experience.
- Represent clients in mediation and settlement negotiations.
- Advise clients on best practices and contract disputes (commercial, employment, construction, etc.) before they turn into lawsuits.
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the court, and keep clients updated on their case.
- Keep accurate time records and meet billable hour expectations consistent with firm standards.
