Head of Campus Facilities
CATS Academy Boston — Braintree, MA
Full-time | On-site
The Opportunity:
CATS Academy Boston is seeking an experienced, hands-on Head of Campus Facilities to lead the maintenance and custodial operations of our international boarding school campus. This is a key operational leadership role with responsibility for ensuring our academic, residential and athletic facilities provide a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for our students and staff.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Facilities Manager will lead our facilities team, oversee preventative maintenance and campus improvement programs, manage contractors and suppliers, and work closely with school leadership on safety, emergency preparedness and longer-term facilities priorities. As a residential school, our campus operates around the clock. The Head of Campus Facilities is therefore an important point of escalation for genuine facilities emergencies outside normal working hours.
As the Head of Campus Facilities, you will:
- Lead, develop and schedule the Academy's maintenance and custodial teams, creating a positive, accountable and service-focused culture.
- Own the preventative maintenance program across campus buildings and key HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life-safety systems.
- Maintain an effective work-order system, ensuring repairs are appropriately prioritized and completed in a timely manner.
- Oversee the condition and presentation of academic, residential, athletic and outdoor spaces, including coordination of landscaping and snow-removal services.
- Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, value and appropriate standards of work.
- Manage the facilities operating budget and procurement of maintenance and custodial supplies.
- Maintain accurate asset, warranty, inspection and maintenance records and identify future repair or replacement requirements.
- Partner with Residential Life and school leadership on campus safety, emergency preparedness and facilities-related compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
We're looking for an experienced facilities professional who combines practical knowledge of building operations with strong people leadership and excellent judgement.
- At least five years of relevant facilities, building maintenance or property operations experience.
- Previous experience supervising and developing maintenance, custodial or similar operational teams.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general preventative maintenance.
- Experience managing contractors, work orders, budgets and competing operational priorities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions when urgent issues arise.
- Comfortable use of workplace technology and facilities/work-order systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and a culturally diverse school community.
