About the Cold Lake Food Bank: The Cold Lake Food Bank is a vital community organization dedicated to alleviating food insecurity for individuals and families in Cold Lake and surrounding areas. Our vision is a community free from food insecurity. We strive to provide a welcoming, safe environment guided by the values of respect, compassion, and honesty. Committed to using resources wisely, we continuously innovate to improve services, value our staff and volunteers, and demonstrate leadership for meaningful social change.

Position Summary:

The Cold Lake Food Bank is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and business-minded Food Bank Director ready to start immediately. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director oversees the overall operational and financial health of the organization, ensuring that our mission to feed the hungry and reduce local food insecurity is delivered with excellence, empathy, and efficiency.

This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role that blends operational grit with sound business management. You will run the food bank with the operational discipline of a business, optimizing supply chains, balancing budgets, managing inventory, and maintaining facilities, while serving as the warm, compassionate heart of our daily outreach. Whether collaborating with the Board on strategic sustainability, rallying local businesses and donors, or rolling up your sleeves on the warehouse floor during food distribution, you are someone who thrives on direct involvement and builds genuine connections with staff, volunteers, clients, and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-On Operations & Logistics: Direct day-to-day warehouse intake, inventory management, facility upkeep, and food distribution workflows, stepping onto the floor whenever needed to ensure safe, smooth, and compliant operations.
  • Business & Financial Management: Organizational budgeting, cost controls, expense monitoring, vendor management, and financial reporting in close collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Revenue & Resource Development: Drive sustainability by identifying new funding opportunities, writing grants, coordinating fundraising campaigns, and cultivating relationships with local donors and corporate sponsors.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Recruit, guide, and support staff and volunteers, cultivating a culture of teamwork, safety, high morale, and deep empathy for the clients we serve.
  • Community Relations & Advocacy: Act as a community ambassador for the food bank, building strong ties with local businesses, civic groups, schools, and partner agencies to mobilize resources and raise awareness.

Qualifications

  • Able to step into the role promptly and take ownership of daily operations.
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality with the stamina to handle warehouse floor logistics and physical inventory alongside staff and volunteers.
  • Proven experience or willingness to learn managing budgets, financial records, inventory supply chains, facility vendors, or small business/non-profit operations.
  • A natural connector who communicates with warmth and confidence across diverse groups, from vulnerable clients to corporate donors and board members.
  • A genuine drive to serve the community and combat food insecurity across the Cold Lake region.
  • Solid computer literacy (spreadsheets, correspondence, donor tracking) and familiarity with food handling and workplace safety standards.
  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.

To Apply: Please submit your resume and cover letter in confidence. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

The Cold Lake Food Bank is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in its workforce. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
