Description
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Scientist in Microbiology to join our team in Reykjavík. In this role, you will take part in essential microbiological testing and environmental monitoring within a GMP-regulated environment, ensuring high quality and compliance standards.
Scope & Responsibilities
Perform environmental and utility monitoring sampling
Conduct microbiological testing (bioburden, endotoxin, sterility, plate reading, growth promotion)
Execute routine microbiological analyses and basic studies
Perform environmental monitoring and microbial culture-related activities
Sterilize laboratory materials and maintain lab equipment
Review documentation related to microbiology sampling and testing
Maintain culture media stock in coordination with Raw Materials team
Manage reference strains and in-house isolate library
Ensure proper cleaning and upkeep of laboratory facilities
Identify and escalate deviations or errors to Team Leader
Participate in training and qualification activities
Ensure compliance with cGMP and company EHS policies
Job Requirements
Minimum 4–5 years of experience in microbiology
Experience working in a cGMP environment
Background in biologics or aseptic/parenteral manufacturing
Strong knowledge of microbiological testing methods (e.g. bioburden, endotoxin, sterility)
Experience with environmental monitoring and sampling
Ability to follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Good communication skills in English
