Job Description Summary

The GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) - Senior Project Manager for the BWROG plays a central role in supporting safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the global BWR fleet. This position leads the day-to-day execution of multiple technical projects across BWROG committees, including scope development, proposal and budget estimation, risk and schedule management, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of high-value industry products.

This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role requiring daily interaction with BWROG utility members, committee chairs, technical subject matter experts, GVH engineering organizations, regulators, and industry partners. The PM serves as the primary coordinator for multiple BWROG committees, facilitating meetings, workshops, and industry initiatives while aligning stakeholders around shared objectives. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, the ability to influence outcomes, and a passion for helping the nuclear industry collaboratively solve common challenges.

The BWROG is a global membership organization representing all domestic (U.S.) and most international BWR operators. Its mission is to maintain and improve plant safety, drive higher fleet reliability, reduce and share costs, strengthen regulatory engagement, and enable industry alignment on high-impact issues.

Job Description

  • Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams including utility SMEs, GVH engineering, vendors, and national labs to deliver high-quality technical products and solutions.
  • Develop and manage detailed budgets and schedules with strong discipline in estimating, tracking, and early risk identification.
  • Support committee chairs in planning and executing committee activities, including agenda development, action item management, decision documentation, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Represent GVH at BWROG meetings, regulatory interactions, and industry forums.
  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to strengthen internal processes, documentation quality, governance, and stakeholder communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline (Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the nuclear energy industry, including at least 5 years at a commercial nuclear power plant in operations, engineering, maintenance, licensing, or similar roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of technical program or project management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams with accountability for budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and customer-relationship skills with the ability to engage both technical SMEs and utility executives.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25% (primarily domestic, but international travel is possible).
  • If not already PMP certified, willingness and ability to obtain certification within 8 months.

Desired Characteristics

  • Deep technical understanding of BWR systems, operations, programs, maintenance, and licensing, typically demonstrated through 10 or more years at an operating BWR.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience participating in nuclear industry working groups such as BWROG, PWROG, NEI, INPO, EPRI, or other industry groups.
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, or digital tools to improve efficiency and business processes.
  • Familiarity with GVH nuclear products, engineering processes, and customer landscape.
  • Experience in nuclear regulatory affairs with interaction with the NRC or international regulators.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills with the ability to build alignment across technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with discipline in budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
