Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Technical Director to join our team in Riyadh! In this role you will lead the delivery of all technical aspects of a PMC commission for a major amphitheater development supported by associated infrastructure. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in the design and construction of complex, multi-disciplinary projects, including public venues and long-span structures. The ideal candidate is a qualified Professional Engineer, highly analytical and solution-oriented, with the capability to proactively manage and resolve technical challenges across all project phases.

What You'll Be Doing:

1. Technical Leadership & Governance

• Serve as the senior technical authority.

• Provide strategic direction and oversight on design and engineering matters across all disciplines.

• Lead the technical review and approval of design deliverables from concept through to IFC.

• Ensure coordination and integration across:

  • Architectural and structural systems (including long-span roof structures)

  • MEP and building systems

  • Acoustics and AV infrastructure

  • Stage, rigging, and performance systems

  • External infrastructure and utilities

2. Design & Engineering Management

• Oversee and manage design consultants to ensure high-quality, coordinated outputs.

• Validate design solutions for structural integrity, buildability, and performance—particularly for complex and long-span elements.

• Ensure adherence to international standards, local authority regulations, and client requirements.

• Identify, assess, and resolve technical risks and interface challenges early.

3. Construction Phase Technical Oversight

• Provide ongoing technical leadership during procurement and construction.

• Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and engineering proposals.

• Lead resolution of complex technical issues, ensuring timely and practical solutions.

• Safeguard design intent, quality, and safety throughout execution.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline

• Mandatory: Professional Engineer (PE, CEng, or equivalent)

• 20+ years’ experience in engineering design, design management, or PMC roles

• Demonstrated experience in major multi-disciplinary projects, including:

  • Public venues (preferred)

  • Amphitheaters, or cultural facilities

  • Complex buildings and large-scale infrastructure

• Proven expertise in long-span structural systems and complex engineering challenges

• Experience managing technical issues through both design and construction phases

• Regional (Middle East) project experience.
