About the Role
Reserve Squad is recruiting on behalf of The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) to support the implementation of the GUST 23 Benefits and Appeals Solution, a Geographic Solutions Inc. (GSI) platform. Ohio is among the first states to adopt this system, which will work alongside Buckeye UI — the state's initial claims platform. GUST 23 will handle unemployment benefits processing and appeals adjudication.
We are looking for highly qualified candidates with direct GSI platform experience combined with Ohio public employment backgrounds
What You'll Do
• Support The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) in the implementation and configuration of the GUST 23 Benefits and Appeals platform
• Serve as a subject matter expert on GSI system functionality, workflows, and best practices
• Collaborate with ODJFS staff, GSI vendor contacts, and Reserve Squad leadership to meet project milestones
• Apply knowledge of Ohio unemployment policy and public sector processes to ensure the system meets state-specific requirements
• Assist with testing, training, documentation, and go-live support as needed
• Contribute institutional knowledge of Ohio public employment systems to bridge the gap between vendor capabilities and state needs
Required Qualifications
All candidates must meet both of the following criteria:
1. Ohio Public Employment Experience
• Former employee of an OPERS (Ohio Public Employees Retirement System)-paying employer
• Qualifying employers include: Ohio state agencies, municipalities, counties, public universities (e.g., Ohio State University, Ohio University), and other political subdivisions
• Current Ohio residence not required
2. GSI Platform Experience
• Hands-on experience with Geographic Solutions Inc. (GSI) workforce or unemployment systems
• Familiarity with GUST 23, GSI’s Benefits and Appeals Solution, or comparable GSI unemployment platforms strongly preferred
• Experience may come from working at a state agency that implemented GSI, working directly for GSI, or consulting on a GSI implementation project
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience with Ohio’s unemployment system, including Buckeye UI or predecessor platforms
• Familiarity with ODJFS policies, procedures, and organizational structure
• Experience supporting system implementations or technology transitions in a public sector context
• Professional network connections within the GSI user community or state unemployment agencies
• Background in benefits adjudication, appeals processing, or unemployment claims management
