Description
The Company
We are Alloy Therapeutics — a biotechnology ecosystem and Product Development Organization (PDO) empowering the global scientific community to make better medicines together. Through a community of partners, we democratize access to pre-competitive tools, technologies, services, and company creation capabilities that are foundational for discovering and developing therapeutic biologics. The company facilitates affordable, non-exclusive access to the entire drug discovery community from academic scientists, small and medium biotech, to the largest biopharma. At Alloy, we believe our industry should compete on getting the best drugs to patients as quickly as possible, not exclusive access to the best platforms. As a reflection of our relentless commitment to the scientific community, we reinvest 100% of our revenue in innovation and access to innovation. May the Best Drug Win.
Alloy has evolved from a startup into a global product development organization operating 11 divisions across 5 research sites in 4 countries on 3 continents. Our model - Integrated Independence - combines centralized capabilities with entrepreneurial operating divisions. Successful members thrive in our shared culture of accountability, deliberate trust, and open communication. As a team we aspire to work together to exceed expectations and collectively contribute across the global organization to always maintain our nimble, startup culture.
At Alloy, we have an ethos of "Mentorship-By-Apprenticeship" in all of our positions. We strive to have workers in the office when needed to interact organically and face-to-face. Of course, as a lab-based operation, our cells and animals grow 7 days a week, 365 days per year. We respect and value our colleagues for their hard work that requires them to be in the lab every day. We ask our people who have more flexible accommodations to appreciate their colleagues who have less flexibility. We are all one team!
About the Role at Alloy Therapeutics
Alloy is building out its People team to match the pace of the company's growth, and this role is a foundational piece of that build. As Director, HR Business Partner and Head of Recruiting and L&D, you will serve as a trusted HR Business Partner to four to five divisions while owning Talent Acquisition and Recruiting, Learning and Development, and Compliance and Immigration company-wide. You will report directly to Alloy’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), and work alongside a small, high-ownership People team.
This is an immediate priority hire. In your first few months, you'll get full-spectrum exposure across the HR function: a peer Director, HR Business Partner will be on a planned leave for part of this period, and you'll have the opportunity to support the broader People function, including recruiting, comp and benefits, and onboarding and offboarding, before settling into the core scope of the role described above. It's an accelerated way to learn how Alloy's People function works end to end.
If your expertise falls outside of Recruiting and L&D and the role / Alloy is appealing, please apply as our team can flex on HR areas of ownership (Comp, Benefits, Performance, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- HR Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted HR Business Partner to leaders across four to five Alloy divisions, advising on org design, employee relations, workforce planning, and day-to-day people matters.
- Talent Acquisition & Recruiting: Own full-cycle recruiting company-wide, from requisition through offer, using JazzHR to manage the pipeline. Continuously refine Alloy's hiring process and candidate experience. Build and execute talent attraction strategies that keep Alloy ahead of workforce trends, and partner with division leaders on strategic talent planning to anticipate their workforce needs before they become urgent reqs.
- Learning & Development: Design and deliver L&D and training programs that build manager capability and support employee growth across a global, multi-division organization.
- Compliance & Immigration: Own HR compliance and manage immigration casework and deadlines, partnering with outside counsel as needed to keep sponsored employees and filings on track.
- Cross-Functional HR Leadership: In your first few months, support the broader People function alongside the CHRO during a planned team leave, including recruiting, comp and benefits, and onboarding and offboarding, gaining early, full-spectrum exposure to how Alloy's People operations run before transitioning into the core scope above.
Qualifications
- Experience: 8-12 years of progressive HR experience, including direct ownership of recruiting and L&D, with time spent as an HR Business Partner across multiple business units or divisions.
- Industry Background: Experience in biotech, life sciences, or another fast-paced, multi-site organization is a strong plus.
- Versatility & Ownership: Comfortable operating as a generalist when needed and flexing across functional areas as business needs evolve, including a willingness to step into broader HR support during team transitions.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with applicant tracking and HRIS platforms (e.g., JazzHR, Rippling, Lattice, or similar), and familiarity with employment compliance and immigration processes, including partnering with immigration counsel on visa sponsorship.
- Communication & Influence: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with divisional leaders and operate effectively in a decentralized, matrixed organization.
Why This Role Is Unique
This is a rare opportunity to build and shape three core HR functions, recruiting, L&D, and compliance, at a company scaling across multiple continents, while also serving as a trusted business partner to divisional leadership:
- Build and own recruiting, L&D, and compliance functions from a strong existing foundation, with real ownership from day one.
- Partner directly with divisional leaders across Alloy's global platform of 11 divisions in 4 countries.
- Gain accelerated, full-spectrum HR exposure in your first few months as part of a planned team transition.
- Work alongside a CHRO and People team actively investing in scaling HR infrastructure to match Alloy's growth.
We support the individuality of what people need to do outside of work to empower them to do their best at work. While you focus on making better medicine together, we focus on programs and benefits that support a diverse and growing team. Whether you’re single, in a growing family, or nearing retirement, Alloy offers a variety of comprehensive and competitive benefits starting from day one.
Compensation
- Competitive base and equity compensation commensurate with level of experience and independence
- 401(k) company match
- Generous personal and family medical, dental and vision benefits with 100% of premiums and deductibles covered
- Company-paid disability (STD, LTD) and life insurance
- Paid parental leave
- Family planning support up to $45,000 (e.g., IVF/PGT, adoption, surrogacy, egg retrieval)
- Unlimited PTO (paid time off) and flexible schedules
- Annual stipend for continuing education with commitment to your career through individualized professional development plan
- Wellness and Extensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including resources for mental wellness

Additionally, this role is eligible for equity compensation, reflecting our commitment to shared success as we work together to make better medicines.
We are proud to offer competitive compensation and benefits, aiming to support our team’s professional and personal well-being. If you have any questions about pay or benefits, we’re here to help.
