The Service Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to ensure the continued availability of service parts when original components become unavailable or obsolete. This role validates alternate components, conducts technical reviews, and applies engineering expertise to maintain product performance and protect revenue. The Service Engineer also identifies opportunities to consolidate parts, optimizing inventory and reducing costs. Additionally, this role leads and supports projects through the GE Appliances NPI and Change Implementation Board (CIB) processes.Position

Key Responsibilities:
PPAP & Technical Reviews:
- Review and approve PPAP submissions to ensure new parts meet form, fit, and function requirements as direct replacements.
- Analyze discontinued parts and evaluate potential substitutes using drawings, measurements, and compatibility assessments.
- Conduct technical reviews (averaging 60 reviews annually) and present recommendations to the Change Implementation Board.
Testing & Validation:
- Test proposed replacement parts for compliance with specifications and performance standards.
- Ensure all recommended replacement parts meet GE Appliances quality and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for plants and sites on complex part-related issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers to expedite issue resolution.
Inventory Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to consolidate parts to reduce inventory complexity and cost.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in the appliance industry.
- Experience identifying, cross-referencing, and validating equivalent components.
- Experience with part qualifications and change management processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and navigate business systems (e.g., Oracle, Windchill).
- Strong communication skills, including presenting technical recommendations to leadership boards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage complex technical reviews under tight timelines.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance and quality standards.
- Proficiency in GE Appliances systems (Oracle, Windchill, Navigate).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering, preferably in the appliance industry.
- Working knowledge of GE Appliances internal processes (SPCF, PPAP, CIB/BCR).
