PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Painter is responsible for the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of equipment, as well as preparing walls and other types of surfaces for spackling and patch plasters where needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

• Paints, spackles and finishes all types of surfaces as required and achieves results that meet departmental standards. Patches plaster as needed.
• Repairs and hangs various types of wall coverings and achieves quality results.
• Mixes paints and colors by using formula books, color charts or by whatever means are necessary to achieve desired colors or textures.
• Have knowledge of general commercial building maintenance.
• Be skilled in the operation of all tools within the trades.
• Be able to activate and deactivate the hospital fire system.
• Be able to read blueprints, etc.
• Be able to requisition material as needed and able to complete applicable paperwork.
• Be able to drive a company truck to pick up supplies as needed and travel to offsite clinics.
• Install cove base and repair floor tile throughout the hospital.
• Complete jobs thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner.
• Cooperates with other departments and work groups.
• Works independently in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Demonstrates both problem solving/problem prevention skills equal to the expected level of responsibility for their jobs.
• Treats others with consideration, courtesy, and respect.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS 

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check including MV records.
• Experience as a professional painter preferred.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
• Must possess the ability to proceed on his/her own initiative in compliance with policies, practices, and procedures prescribed by the immediate manager.
• Must possess good communication skills in both listening and interpreting verbal and written instructions as well as conveying necessary information to appropriate individuals and departments.
• English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
• Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
• Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
• Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
• Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
• Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
• Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to travel, including flying and driving rental cars.
• To accommodate travel, must be able to transport own suitcases and portable computer estimated at 25 pounds.
