Licensed Integrated Pediatric Behavioral Health Clinician

Description

The Licensed Integrated Pediatric Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for providing outpatient mental health care for pediatric patients, ages 4 through early adulthood within the primary care setting, in collaboration with YMCA. The Licensed Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician provides evidence-based behavioral health assessment, intervention, psychotherapy, consultation, and care coordination for children and their families within an integrated healthcare setting. The clinician works collaboratively with pediatric medical providers, families, and other members of the care team to address behavioral, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial concerns that may impact a child's health, functioning, and overall well-being. 

Requirements

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES #1

• Willing to meet with all patients of all ages, from pre-K, to early adulthood.
• Experience with Family Systems Theory, and therapeutic interventions for children and families to address mental health symptoms and underlying psychosocial stressors.
• Performs bio-psychosocial assessments; to identify behavioral, emotional, social, and environmental factors affecting a child's health and functioning, and develop individualized treatment goals and intervention plans in collaboration with children, caregivers, and the broader care team.
• Provide caregiver-focused interventions and education to strengthen parenting skills, communication, routines, and positive behavior supports.
• Training in screening, and clinical interventions specific to children and adolescents, as well as mental health risk assessments and crisis interventions specific to children and adolescents.
• Initiates treatment interventions; e.g., individual, family counseling and crisis interventions as appropriate. 
• Support patients through difficult circumstances with an emphasis on building sense of internal locus of control. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES #2

• Work collaboratively within a team of medical and behavioral health clinicians within a primary care setting.
• Maintain open communication and accessibility to encourage mental health integration in the clinic setting.
• Work with a variety of patients with a wide range of mental health diagnoses, and lived experiences, including adolescents at risk for substance use disorders. 
• Provides information and referrals for counseling and service acquisition as appropriate to the assessed need. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY #3

• Document all patient interaction and referrals. 
• Charts and maintains notes within 72 hours in compliance with CMS documentation standards.
• Protects confidentiality and the abide by HIPPA Laws as well as 42 CFR. 
• Maintains understanding of Patient and Parental Consent Requirements, HIPAA, and FERPA, and adheres to best practices for consent to provide care to children, and adolescents.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Master's Degree in Social Work
• Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling
• 3+ years in a Clinical Setting 
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Family Systems Theory
• Master’s Degree in counseling or social work

Skills:

• Experience working with children and families in psychotherapy.
• Pediatric behavioral health treatment interventions; e.g., individual, family counseling and crisis interventions.

Abilities:

• Adaptable in different work environments and flexibility to work with many different patient populations, cultures, and communities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Seeing: Must be able to read written and printed material, as well as use computer, fax machine, Xerox machine and other office equipment. 
• Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers and others. Good hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
• Sitting: Must be able to sit for the majority of the work shift while answering telephone and communicating with others. 
• Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand intermittently and be capable of walking on hardwood and linoleum floors with concrete underpayments. Must be able to walk between various clinical areas and departments. 
• Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: This position requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful use of hands when working with and performing normal office duties and responsibilities.
