Senior Defined Benefit (DB) Reinsurance Operations Analyst
Location: London (Hybrid - 50%)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours
Purpose
A critical role in supporting the collation, analysis, and submission of the reinsurance and reporting data to key stakeholders and our reinsurance partners. This covers all the types of DB reinsurance treaties namely, longevity flow, longevity facultative, and funded. A key role in shaping the DB Reinsurance Operations area; providing training and support to DB Reinsurance Operations & Reinsurance Operations Analysts and the broader DB area when required; Working alongside our Finance teams to support accounting and internal data needs; This role will also support the data and strategic development activities undertaken to ensure constant evolution of the DB Reinsurance area and our growth ambitions. There will be an element of the role that will be continually focused on improving processes and delivering scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that monthly and annual reinsurance data is processed, assessed and collated for onward distribution both internally and to our Reinsurance Partners in accordance with Treaty timeframes, maintaining the monthly workflow.
- Managing the administration of reinsurance treaties.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality of data to all stakeholders ensuring timely delivery and that records are accurately maintained to support Audit requirements.
- Support process developments that facilitate delivery of materials externally and internally, working with internal teams in pursuing this and reinsurers.
- Following the delivery of reinsurance true up data, supporting the Reinsurance Pricing team in the preparation of reinsurance data cleanse materials, preparation of reinsurance true up materials, and the transition to live reporting for the relevant schemes.
- Working with Technical Analysts, provide specialist training and support to enhance reinsurance knowledge across DB.
- Ensure understanding of all reinsurance treaties sharing knowledge with relevant teams in DB as necessary.
- Produce and deliver regular reinsurance reporting.
- Support with the completion of all reinsurance work by collaborating with the Reinsurance Pricing team, including the management of relationship with Reinsurer’s operations team.
- Support with the completion of month end deliverables to all internal stakeholders.
- Check scheme reinsurance data providing guidance and feedback to colleagues as and when needed.
- Production of materials for internal audit and Financial Controls that assist with ensuring quality control and identification of issues.
- Deal with ad-hoc data requirements and requests in relation to Reinsurance Ops.
- Support contractual requirement gathering and considerations for new contracts or as part of refining existing contracts.
- Supporting wider projects to support the execution and completion of reinsurance operations deliverables.
What we’re looking for
- Proven track record of using excel to manage and manipulate large data sets, using both excel functions and VBA with aptitude and interest in learning other coding languages
- Technical understanding of DB Pensions
- Experience of working alongside or for a TPA administering DB Pensions or BPA products
- Ability to balance short-term process improvements or deliverables with longer-term project work and initiatives.
- Good understanding of DB de-risking administration requirements and how they differ from standard pensions administration
- Training individuals and groups of people
- Ability to manage workloads and prioritise a number of different tasks based on business volumes and priorities
- Customer service focused
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate information across different media (e.g. in person, telephone, letter, email)
- Clear focus on quality, service, and results
- Flexible approach with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast moving environment
- Good Microsoft office skills particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
Experience
- Experience in using excel and other Microsoft tools including Powerpoint, Word, and Copilot
- Interested in or has experience in using coding languages to assist with large scale data analysis - for example, VBA, Julia, Python, SQL
- Track record of working in the Reinsurance and Pensions Industry sector
- Previous experience of working for a DB Pensions de-risking company beneficial
