The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and CNC equipment, along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and utilize design software to support the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and manual lathes to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements and processes.
  • Utilize CAD/design software to review, modify, and support the development of machining programs and component designs.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and tooling based on the material, part geometry, and machining requirements.
  • Develop and modify CNC programs, offsets, and machine parameters to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Apply knowledge of machining processes, speeds and feeds, cutting tools, and material properties to optimize machining operations.
  • Set up machines, perform tooling changes, make adjustments, and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Work with a variety of materials, including metals and other materials commonly used in precision manufacturing, and determine appropriate machining methods based on material characteristics.
  • Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and increase overall manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining challenges and develop effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Maintain CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, and work areas in accordance with company standards.
  • Accurately document production activities, quality results, tooling changes, and other required manufacturing records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes.
  • Strong working knowledge of CNC machining processes, including turning, milling, drilling, boring, and other precision machining operations.
  • Experience with tool selection, tooling setup, workholding, and tool changes based on material and part requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of various metals and machining materials, including an understanding of how material properties affect machining processes and tooling selection.
  • Experience developing, modifying, and adjusting CNC programs, offsets, speeds, and feeds.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools.
  • Experience using CAD/design software to review and interpret part designs and support machining operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve machining, tooling, and equipment issues.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
