Job Summary

We are seeking a Controls Specialist I to support controls and instrumentation projects in an industrial or power generation environment.

This role will assist with multiple projects involving field walkdowns, cable and wiring verification, control system configuration, graphics, I/O development, cost estimating, startup support, and preparation of layouts and conceptual designs.

The ideal candidate will have a solid electrical background and hands-on exposure to one or more control platforms such as Ovation, Foxboro, ABB, or PLC-based systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Support multiple controls and instrumentation projects.

• Perform and assist with site walkdowns and field verification.

• Check cables, wiring, terminations, and related field installations.

• Support control system startup and commissioning activities.

• Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, and control system documentation.

• Assist with preparation of project cost estimates.

• Develop and maintain I/O lists.

• Review and mark up control narratives, drawings, and technical documentation.

• Support configuration and graphics development for control systems.

• Coordinate with plant personnel, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.

• Assist with identifying and resolving field installation or controls-related issues.

• Maintain accurate project and field documentation.

Required Qualifications

• 0–5 years of related controls, electrical, instrumentation, or industrial experience.

• Solid electrical knowledge.

• Proficiency with computer-based platforms and engineering applications.

• Experience or familiarity with at least one of the following:

  • Ovation

  • Foxboro

  • ABB

  • PLC systems

• Experience with field support and site walkdowns.

• Ability to check electrical cables and wiring in the field.

• Experience with control narratives and drawing markups.

• Experience developing or maintaining I/O lists.

• Basic cost-estimating experience.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively with plant staff, engineers, contractors, and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in power generation, utilities, heavy industrial, or process facilities.

• Controls configuration and HMI/graphics experience.

• Startup or commissioning experience.

• Experience supporting DCS or PLC modification projec
