Technical Sales Representative

Our client is seeking a Technical Sales Representative to promote and sell a specialised propagation system, including machinery, paper and trays, to customers across the forestry, fruit, ornamental and vegetable sectors. The role is responsible for managing the full sales cycle, providing technical product support and training, and developing strong relationships with new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and sell a specialised propagation system, including machinery, paper and trays.
• Identify and qualify new sales leads across the forestry, fruit, ornamental and vegetable sectors.
• Conduct on-site product demonstrations for prospective and existing customers.
• Prepare quotations and manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to closing.
• Provide ongoing customer support and respond to product and system-related enquiries.
• Train customers on product features, system operation and best practices to support successful implementation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
• Gather market and customer feedback.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve customer service and product offerings.
• Independently manage the assigned sales territory and work towards defined sales targets.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or relevant equivalent experience in sales, agribusiness, a technical discipline or a related field.
• For candidates relying on experience in place of a degree, at least 3 years of relevant horticulture work experience.
• Strong technical sales experience, including presenting and selling technical or equipment-based solutions.
• Excellent customer service capabilities, including responsive support, relationship management and follow-up.
• Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, prepare proposals and engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to deliver effective customer training on product features, system operation and best practices.
• Proven ability to work independently in the field, manage a sales territory and meet defined targets.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel within the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area and broader Southern Africa region.
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans.
• Authorised to work in South Africa.

Advantageous Experience

• Background in agriculture, horticulture, forestry or a related industry.

Additional Information
