Position Details:

The Opportunity:

Washington State University Tri-Cities GEAR UP program is now accepting applications for a GEAR UP Regional Manager. As a Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight of the One Vision Partnership (OVP) and Harvest of Hope (HOH) GEAR UP programs at our partner school districts in the designated region. The Regional Manager will act as the administrative contact often on complex and confidential issues in the areas of: programming, interpretation of policies and procedures, student or personnel related issues/concerns, and provide fiscal and budgetary guidance. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, and exercises independent judgement in interpreting and applying WSU and Department of Education policies and procedures.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing program operations, resources, professional development and training oversight

  • Supervising of site managers and personnel; managing payroll deadlines and personnel issues; conducting performance evaluations

  • Developing and maintaining effective college readiness strategies, programs, and services for the OVP and HOH grants

  • Developing comprehensive curriculum, content, materials, and programming that support financial literacy, parent and student engagement for all all assigned grants

  • Researching and identifying resources for managers and providing individual and group guidance as needed

  • Serving as Interim Site Manager at designated school sites as needed during extended leave periods and vacancies

The GEAR UP Program provides an intensive, year-round program of early outreach to middle and high school students in the partnering districts. It is funded with federal funds by the Department of Education grant whose purpose is to increase the number of low-income and underrepresented students who graduate from high school and successfully complete post-secondary education.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is may be overtime eligible or overtime ineligible, depending on final salary placement.

This is an on-site/in-person role, with a work location in the GEAR UP Administration Office in Richland, WA.

Temporary End Date: This temporary position is expected to end on September 29, 2027.

Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

Monthly Salary: $6,847.72 per month

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary for this position.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in K-12 programs related to the functional managerial area which has included at least four (4) years of supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating, and implementing student programming or college readiness events.

  • Demonstrated experience developing strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and external constituencies.

  • Developed skill in written and verbal communication including experience with large group presentations/training.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of school programs and student success for middle and/or high school students.

  • Proficiency in the use of computers, Google Workspace, and MS Office software programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with organization and operation of secondary school/district administration and university/community college systems.

  • Experience in student academic support programs.

  • Experience working with parents in individual or group settings.

  • Professional first hand experience motivating students of low income or disadvantaged youth.
