About the role
We are looking for a Supervisor – Drill & Blast to lead and direct operators within one of the most technically specialised and operationally critical teams at Kennecott. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on leadership with technical and planning expertise while playing a key role in safely delivering production outcomes across a world-class mining operation. Working alongside experienced operators, technical specialists, and operational leaders, you will help drive safety, performance, continuous improvement, and team development within a department where no two days are the same. Reporting to the Superintendent – Drill and Blast, on a 5-5-4 roster with rotating day and night shifts and working collaboratively with operational and functional teams, you will be responsible for:
Providing visible leadership and maintaining high safety standards and procedures.
Executing mine production plans safely and cost-effectively to consistently deliver targeted quantities.
Allocating operational resources and directing the work of outside consultants and contractors.
Supporting ongoing training, safety compliance, departmental scheduling, and productivity.
Communicating effectively with planning and technical groups, other Mine Operations supervisors, and stakeholders working in and around the mine.
Managing conflicting operational priorities while maintaining productive working relationships.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and cost reduction.
About you
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
A high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Three or more years of experience in mining, processing, manufacturing, or a related field.
The ability to lead, with previous experience leading medium to large teams.
Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
The ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Previous supervisory experience in mining operations and/or exposure to mine planning systems is beneficial.
Drill and Blast experience is beneficial.
Intermediate computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SAP, or similar digital applications.

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter, and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
