Roadtex Transportation has become a leader in the nationwide LTL industry, specializing in transporting time and temperature-sensitive products. We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions. 

Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Roadtex Operations will oversee a Regional team of designated site locations and managers, and this individual will be responsible for planning and overseeing the daily operations of the organization to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages and leads all Site Managers for the Region
  • Plans and organizes daily activities related to production and operations for multi transportation sites
  • Measures productivity by analyzing KPI’s performance data, financial data, and activity reports and make recommendations to senior leadership to improve operational efficiencies
  • Coordinates with other support departments such as human resources, finance, and logistics to ensure successful production operations.
  • Directs the Terminal Site Managers on shipping and receiving functions
  • Determines labor needs to meet production goals for the region and presents to the Regional Director
  • Assists with budget preparation for operations unit
  • Assists with and collaborates with internal teams on SOP’s
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Problem Solving and Issue Resolution
    • Is the lead on addressing, resolving, and communicating any transportation issues, such as delays, equipment failures, and load discrepancies  to all teams
    • Proactively identify potential logistics issues and recommend adjustments to minimize impact on customer service
  • Data analysis and reporting
    • Use transportation management systems (TMS) and applicable reporting resources to monitor and analyze load data, shipment statuses, and cost metrics for the Region
    • Provide regular reports on key performance indicators like load utilization, delivery timeliness, and cost efficiency to effectively streamline operational efficiencies
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure that all locations comply with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
    • Adhere to and promote company safety standards in all planning and coordination activities for the Region
    • Stay informed of regulatory changes that may impact transportation planning

Requirements/Skills:

  • Experience and proven track record in leading and developing a team preferably multi unit
  • 7+ years in a leadership role
  •  Associate’s or Bachelors degree in Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred or like experience
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
  • Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Must be self-directed and take initiative to complete tasks
  • Ability to implement and partner with Compliance team on safety procedures
  • Proven track record in building internal and external partnerships to drive operational efficiencies and in dealing with customer issues and resolution
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to maintain/follow quality and safety standards
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Dropbox, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures (UPS, FedEx, Freight)
  • Experience with analyzing and reviewing data on incoming and outgoing shipments and making recommendations to enhance the process and grow the business
  • Advanced understanding of geographical area and mapping to facilitate efficient routing.
  • Solid understanding of shipping industry.
