The Public Sector Advisory team specializes in advising tribal and municipal governments, including cities, towns, villages, counties, authorities, utilities, public schools and libraries, as well as higher education, healthcare entities, power and water districts and economic development organizations.  Solving problems, creating opportunities, and meeting our clients’ accounting, reporting, compliance, and capital planning needs are the hallmarks of the services we provide.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist clients of all types to evaluate financial and operational risks and provide recommendations to enhance internal controls and the internal control environment

  • Work on year-round projects with clients to ensure strong operations, reporting and compliance

  • Solve complex problems for distressed units in a team-based, outcome driven, service delivery model

  • Develop fiscal tools to assist clients to maintain strong financial plans while navigating ever-changing data inputs

  • Maintain and consult on critical economic development areas to ensure community leaders have the best available information to make critical growth decisions

  • Assist in the analysis of the organization’s strategy, organizational structure, and operations

  • Learn and grow from direct on-the-job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs

  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients

  • Build friendships and strong work relationships while gaining valuable experience

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public policy, public administration, or a related field

  • Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Public Administration (MPA), or a similar advanced or technical degree preferred

  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred

  • Outstanding academic performance required, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above  

  • Relevant internship, work experience and/or involvement with a professional organization 

  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel 

  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving 

  • Organizational and analytical skills, initiative, adaptability 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 

  • There is currently no immigration sponsorship available for this position

  • Must have been a 2026 summer intern at Baker Tilly

The pay rate range for this position is $62,000 to $90,840. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
