This is an opportunity for a seasoned IT professional to work on complex, high-visibility data modernization efforts supporting sensitive federal law-enforcement systems.
In this role, you will serve as a senior technical authority responsible for the planning, architecture, engineering, execution, validation, and oversight of large-scale data migration activities. You will provide deep expertise in data engineering, database systems, data integration, legacy system modernization, and enterprise data platforms while helping transition critical ELSUR/FISA data from multiple legacy environments into a unified data platform.
Your work will directly support the secure modernization and consolidation of sensitive FBI data. This is an ideal opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys working at the intersection of data engineering, database architecture, legacy system modernization, data migration, cybersecurity, systems integration, and mission-critical federal IT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior technical SME for data migration, data engineering, database systems, and enterprise data platforms.
- Lead the planning, execution, and technical oversight of large-scale ELSUR/FISA data migration from legacy systems into a unified data platform.
- Analyze legacy databases, applications, storage environments, schemas, metadata, and data dependencies to develop effective migration strategies.
- Design and oversee data extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and loading processes.
- Ensure accurate preservation of data, metadata, relationships, user-applied markings, and other critical data attributes throughout migration.
- Validate migrated data for accuracy, completeness, integrity, security, and accessibility within the new system.
- Provide technical expertise in database architecture, data modeling, integration, storage, and legacy system modernization.
- Identify and resolve complex data quality, database, integration, and migration issues.
- Ensure sensitive information is securely handled throughout migration, testing, validation, and deployment.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, government stakeholders, and other technical teams.
- Develop and maintain migration plans, data mappings, technical documentation, validation procedures, and test results.
- Provide senior-level technical guidance, risk assessments, and recommendations throughout the migration lifecycle.
- 8+ years of professional IT experience in data migration, data engineering, database engineering, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated success supporting large-scale data migration or modernization projects.
- Strong experience with database systems, data architecture, data modeling, and data integration.
- Experience with ETL/ELT, data transformation, validation, reconciliation, and data quality.
- Experience migrating data from multiple legacy applications, databases, and/or storage environments.
- Experience preserving data, metadata, relationships, markings, and other critical data attributes during migration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting complex data and database issues.
- Experience securely handling sensitive information and applying appropriate data security controls.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical teams and government stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain the required U.S. government security clearance.
- Experience supporting the FBI, DOJ, Intelligence Community, DoD, or other federal mission organizations.
- Experience with ELSUR, FISA, intelligence, investigative, or sensitive law-enforcement data.
- Experience with large-scale database consolidation, legacy modernization, or enterprise data platforms.
- Experience with cloud, hybrid-cloud, or modern data architectures.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data security.
- Experience working directly with federal government customers and technical stakeholders.
- Experience serving as a senior technical lead, architect, or SME on enterprise data programs.
- Relevant technical certifications in data engineering, databases, cloud, cybersecurity, or related fields.
- Active U.S. government security clearance.
