The Opportunity
As an Executive Operational Planning Director, you will perform Chief of Staff responsibilities, supporting senior leaders through the prioritization and coordination of critical business initiatives, strategic deliverables, and executive communications. You will serve as a key liaison across functions, lines of business, Centers of Excellence, and executive leadership teams, helping drive alignment, operational effectiveness, and execution of strategic priorities. This role requires the ability to assess complex business challenges, interpret operational and analytical insights, and develop action plans that support business objectives while addressing compliance and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience in business management, executive operations, or project/program management, along with a proven track record of supporting senior executives in complex organizations. Success in this role requires exceptional executive presence, communication, and relationship-building skills, as well as experience developing executive-level presentations, board and committee materials, and strategic communications for C-suite leaders. Candidates should possess strong analytical and business acumen, including experience with data analysis, operational reporting, budget management, and executive decision support. The successful leader will be highly organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders at all levels, and drive meaningful business outcomes through strategic planning and operational excellence.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, or Plano, TX

What you'll do:
- Facilitates strategic and operational planning and implementation processes to assure that management is knowledgeable of process, goals, objectives and strategies.
- Leads the coordination and documentation of progress toward achievement of business goals, objectives, strategies and action plan results.
- In partnership with Corporate Communications and the Chief of Staff team, defines and sets objectives and content of messages to be communicated in concert with EMG and/ or the Executive Leadership Team member's guidance, corporate mission and objectives, as well as the objectives of employee, member, and public communications.
- Evaluates and influences relevance of messages for intended audience and ensures consistency and accuracy for communication efforts across the team; identifies and implements innovative communication tactics.
- Provides advice and guidance and negotiates approval of deliverable materials with executive management and subject-matter experts prior to securing final approval from senior executive or Executive Leadership Team member.
- Supports and advises management through research and analysis of internal/external business data including industry best practices and competitive information.
- Responsible for the development, coordination and timely submission of relevant ELT and Board/Council/Committee driven requirements.
- Provides oversight and support to project teams in development and implementation of employee events and business conferences.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
Experiences that will support your success:
- 8 years of project/program management experience supporting senior level executives, corporate event planning and/or managing executive level communications.
- Ability to build strong relationships and to work with all levels within the organization.
- Experience developing executive level briefings in support of EC, CEO and BoD deliverables.
- Experience in Committee / Executive meeting preparation and facilitation.
- Demonstrated capability to navigate in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks with competing deadlines, and demonstrate forward-thinking and planning.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate positively with executive leadership (C-Suite) and communicate complex concepts clearly.

- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include: Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create executive level presentations and develop process documentation.
What sets you apart:
- US military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner
- 7+ years of experience in business management, executive operations, project/program management, or a related role supporting senior executives and strategic business initiatives within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering executive-level communications, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leadership, Executive Committees (EC), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Board of Directors (BoD).
- Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives and coordinate cross-functional teams, driving alignment across departments while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and business management skills, including experience with data analysis, budget management, operational reporting, and executive decision support, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Exceptional executive presence, communication, and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, collaborate with C-suite leaders, and communicate complex concepts with clarity and confidence.
- Experience in operations management, consulting, or organizational effectiveness, with a track record of developing creative solutions, improving business processes, and successfully delivering high-visibility projects and executive-level initiatives.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $114,080 - $218,030.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
