POSITION SUMMARY:
The Events Director will oversee the organization and running of the facility's tournaments, sports and non-sports programs, leagues and any other local events or programs held. They will oversee the booking, setup and organization of the venue's tournaments, athletic programs including sports camps, clinics, sports specific instruction, and any other programs held. The Events Director will work closely with the individual leaders of each program, rights holders as well as other internal departments in order to successfully accomplish these responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop, and oversee the facility's sport programs, camps, leagues, tournaments, and local programming events
- Manage the ongoing facility schedule and coordinate program/camp registration processes
- Develop programming for diverse markets, including corporate, group, adult, youth, family, and special-interest audiences
- Develop and manage program and sporting event budgets
- Create and execute sales initiatives for leagues, tournaments, camps, and special events through networking, relationship building, and strategic alliances
- Track and report weekly sales, attendance, and event participation data to appropriate team members
- Support hiring, training, and direct oversight of sports programming, camp, and local event staff
- Use stakeholder feedback and program performance data to implement improvements and maximize utilization
- Collaborate with Marketing and Operations to ensure effective campaign support, consistent processes, and accurate program information
- Serve as a primary point of contact for programming, camps, sports, and local events while helping ensure service standards across the customer experience
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) during scheduled shifts
- All other duties as instructed by Management
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven track record of developing, marketing, and selling recreational and competitive sports programs
- Experience with program setup, execution, and operational management
- Proficiency in recreational/facility management software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Experience coaching and teaching both youth and adult sports
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- Proven success in generating community interests and involvement through sports programming and event planning
- Experience in youth and amateur sports as a consumer
- Proven experience in the successful scheduling and programming of multiple sporting events at one location during the same time frame
- Experience and success in customer service and programming administration
- Bachelor's degree in recreation sports management or related field, or equivalent experience preferred
- Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency
- Proven ability to evaluate team member performance based on established standards
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
- Will be required to operate a computer
- Facility has intermittent noise
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimal travel as needed to trade shows, training, conference
