[What the role is]
The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.[What you will be working on]
As a key member of the Veterinary Health Division, you will be responsible for managing animal disease outbreaks, risk assessments, contingency planning, and risk communication. You will also be involved in providing professional and competent data analysis and research support for animal and zoonotic disease biosurveillance programmes across various sectoral partners nationally with the objective of meeting NParks mission to create the best living environment through excellence in nature conservation, greenery and recreation, and veterinary care, in partnership across different stakeholders.
You will be involved in the following duties:
- Biosurveillance - Design, implement, review and oversee biosurveillance programmes to monitor emerging animal diseases and identify public health threats. Coordinate data collection, analysis and reporting to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Disease Investigation - Lead and coordinate animal disease outbreak investigations, including field investigations, sample collection and liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Risk Assessment and Emergency Planning - Lead risk assessments on animal diseases to inform risk management decisions and develop emergency response plans for animal health incidents.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building - Develop and deliver engagement sessions and training programmes for diverse audiences to enhance competency in biosurveillance and biosecurity.
- Communication and Knowledge Dissemination - Produce scientific reports and educational materials to communicate biosurveillance and biosecurity information across multiple mediums and audiences.
[What we are looking for]
- Areas of study in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Science.
- Knowledge in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health or One Health would be desirable.
- Candidates with knowledge and experience in performing statistical analyses of dataset will have an advantage.
- Highly motivated individual with a positive problem-solving attitude to follow through the assigned tasks within stipulated timelines.
- Team player with initiative, drive, and good interpersonal/communication skills and able to work independently.
