The Nurse Practitioner provides primary, urgent, and acute ambulatory care to the College's student population. Care is also provided to faculty and staff for work-related injuries. The Nurse Practitioner promotes student health and well-being by providing health education and encouraging healthy habits and behaviors during patient visits. Major Areas of Responsibility
Clinical Care
- Provide high-quality primary and urgent care to students.
- Provide emergency care as clinically indicated.
- Provide care under the direction and review of a supervising provider, when required by the Massachusetts Board of Nursing and applicable regulations.
- Consult and collaborate with the supervising provider as needed.
- Pursue independent practice authority as appropriate based on experience, licensure, and applicable Massachusetts regulations.
- Maintain a mechanism for peer review and evaluation of clinical performance.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse cultural, social, and individual needs of students.
- Formulate, review, and update Nurse Practitioner protocols.
- Maintain all required professional licenses and certifications.
- Provide clinical consultation and support to RN staff as needed.
Health Education and Student Development
- Develop and implement health education and community wellness programs.
- Provide health information and education during patient visits to promote healthy habits, prevention, and overall well-being.
- Support leadership and educational opportunities for students, as appropriate.
- Serve as an advisor to the peer educator group, if applicable.
Quality Improvement and Professional Practice
- Participate in the Quality Assessment/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) and peer review processes in accordance with AAAHC standards.
- Identify and support opportunities for ongoing process and service improvements.
- Optimize the use of the electronic medical record and prescribing resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical practices, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Operations
- Work effectively as a liaison among departments and users to balance service, quality, and cost.
- Practice in a financially responsible manner while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Participate actively in department and divisional staff meetings.
- Participate in performance reviews and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner and an active Massachusetts license to practice.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
- Master of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current state and federal DEA registrations, as required.
- Two to three years of clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, emergency care, or a related clinical setting.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, inclusive, and culturally responsive care.
- Understanding of and respect for the Jesuit tradition and the mission and values of the College. Salary: The salary range for this 10-month position is $78,000–$85,000, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
