Summary:

Join a dynamic cardiovascular team where you'll play a vital role in supporting providers and delivering exceptional patient care. In this role, you will proactively anticipate provider and patient needs, prepare patients for visits using established clinical guidelines, maintain efficient patient flow, and assist with treatments and procedures.

In addition, you will serve as a scribe for assigned providers, ensuring accurate and timely clinical documentation. Utilizing advanced training and demonstrated competencies, you will perform specialized diagnostic and cardiovascular procedures within the scope of certification, organizational policies, and under the direct supervision of a provider. Responsibilities may include treadmill exercise tolerance tests, stress echocardiograms, six-minute walk tests, nuclear stress tests, and providing coverage for the EKG Department. Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 1.00 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive clinical and administrative support to providers by preparing patients for visits, maintaining efficient patient flow, documenting encounters as a scribe, and assisting with treatments, procedures, and diagnostic testing.

  • Perform advanced cardiovascular procedures and diagnostic testing, including:

    • Treadmill Exercise Tolerance Tests (ETT)

    • Stress Echocardiograms

    • Nuclear Stress Tests

    • Holter and Event Monitor Application

    • EKG services and department coverage as needed

  • Manage patient communication by handling phone calls, documenting telephone encounters, coordinating test result notifications, and ensuring timely follow-up with patients and care teams.

  • Support clinic operations through appointment scheduling, referral coordination, prior authorization management, provider schedule monitoring, and processing patient forms such as FMLA and advance directives.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment, following infection prevention, regulatory, and inventory management standards.

  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional patient care, communicate pertinent patient information, and support clinic operational goals.

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by utilizing AIDET principles and demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, support clinical quality metrics, and assist with the orientation, training, and mentorship of new Cardiology Technicians.

  • Complete required advanced training and competency requirements, including Basic Arrhythmia and Treadmill Training Protocols, within nine months of hire.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of cardiac medicine experience.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ASHI Healthcare Provider program.

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.

  • Successful completion of annual Basic Arrhythmia training and Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Test within nine (9) months of hire.

  • Successful completion of required Scribe training.

  • Completion of all organizational, department, and role-specific competency requirements within established timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting cardiovascular or cardiology providers in an outpatient or hospital setting.

  • Experience performing cardiovascular diagnostic testing and monitoring procedures.

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation systems.

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • Maintain current BLS certification throughout employment.

  • Complete annual Basic Arrhythmia education and competency validation.

  • Complete Scribe training and maintain ongoing competency.

  • Maintain all required clinical competencies, education, and emergency response training as required by departmental and organizational standards.
